UFC is very popular but it would be obscene to make it an Olympic sport. I consider the Olympics to be one of the biggest sporting events there is and it should be limited to about 10 sports including only real ones like T&F, swimming, wrestling and gymnastics.
There may only be a handful of nations sending BMX athletes, today. And from a middle class, first world perspective BMX seems niche compared to things like swimming and gymnastics.
But right now globally there are vastly more children who have access to a bike than a decent swimming pool. More that will try their hand at a skatepark than a gymnasium. There are charities that have built BMX pump tracks in deprived nations, and skate parks are ubiquitous in cities worldwide.
