Came to Letsrun to hear everyone else's reaction to Tiernan clearly suffering from heat exhaustion on the final straight of the 10,000 race, but not a peep? If you go to the nbcolympics.com replay of the race, you can see him stagger and weave down the final straight, and eventually collapse -- eventually getting up and crossing the finish line. You can see this in the background, within 30 seconds of the end of the race, I think when they are focusing on Grant Fisher. Quite dramatic. I am now locked out of the site, so I can't go back to confirm exact details.
As I recall, he was in the main pack at the beginning of the bell lap. He really deteriorated badly over that last lap -- worst I have seen since Andersen-Schiess. Halfway expected to see medical personnel come out and administer to him.
