Why is shot putter Michelle Carter doing the play by play in the field events? Has she ever been an announcer in any track meet ever? Her commenting for men's pole vault is atrocious. What happened to Dan O'Brien?

She’s even bad in the discus. Did someone lose a bet? Do they not try these people out?
Cmon guys.....you know why she's announcing. Call it like you see it.
I think they are trying a B team with Michelle Cater, Alysia Montano, etc. on USA and Peacock - we should hear the usual guys on the OTA NBC show this week. Agree Michelle is beyond horrible. Alysia is so tentative that I did not notice she was on the air for two hours.
Montano: he went back to his former coach and you know what they say, you go with who took you to the dance, and let’s hope he does that.
Wtf, you just said he did do that.
I recommend the live NBC feeds on the web, whenever possible. None of the NBC A-team is used (at least for the morning sessions) and the presenters are mostly British. The presentation is excellent and you get to see everything.
However...they have a lot of these short commercials whenever a race ends. They are becoming annoying.
I imagine that as more finals come about, they may be switching to the A-team which is OK. I just want to see all of the heats and not just those "of interest to Americans."
Also, these live feeds may be replayed.
Outside of Ato Bolden, the only people that should be broadcasting track
are british.All Americans are horrible.
Has any of the Olympic announcing outside of swimming been anything other than awful on NBC?

Oh yeah it’s so much better. They’ve upped the commercials I noticed too, which is rather annoying. It’s John Anderson, a knowledgeable Australian lady and Rob something who does Diamond League world feeds. Enthusiastic track nerds, just stop cutting them off with ads.
Get her off the air. She’s terrible. Like listening to a high school track meet on local cable. Has absolutely nothing worthy to say. Is she even an athlete?
Here are your choices.
Watch NBC where the focus is on only Americans with a special interest in Kenny Harrison blowing out her birthday candles at age 7.
Or watch the British telecast where you see every athlete, but; you get commercials every 30 seconds. They cut off the commentating to show commercials.
I counted no less than 75 advertisements during the women's 100m hurdles. The fish about to eat the plastic bag,20 times in less than 1 hour.

I think she twice spoke of the same athlete (was it Finley, Jagers or Mattis?) as "....has really been working on his technique." Give us more than those completely generic statements-I think some would actually be interested to know specifically what was being worked on. Dumbing down commentary ala Larry Rawson does not bring new fans IMO.
This is the feed I've been watching. Who is the guy with the American accent? Because he is awful. An example of his idiocy (during the steeplechase heats): "this is an event that matters." I guess the other olympic track events don't matter?
Another example, after Rai Benjamin's heat was over: "and he's walking to get his mask now. Oh, wow, I didn't recognize him without his telltale head band. He always wears a headband."
He interjects dumb things like that all the time. He's about what I would expect if Rojo was announcing.

I cant get the Walmart ad song out of my head. It's driving me crazy.
Also, how many times do I have to watch those kids drinking white claw while giggling inanely? They never seem to actually talk or hang out in a meaningful way. They just giggle and sometimes push each other into a pool or something similar.

He's also been constantly mangling the names of athletes, adding in consonants that aren't there while leaving others out. It's as if he's incapable of reading phonetically and is extremely lazy and worse, disrespectful to the athletes. Is this guy just plain stupid? He's done it dozens of times, mostly to non-American athletes. During the 400 hurdle heats he repeatedly referred to the Japanese runner Hiromu Yamauchi as "Yamaguchi," then changed it to "Yamagachi," then finally got it right as the athletes were walking off the track. Geezus, the athlete's names -with the correct spellings- are right on the their bibs. Act like the professional you allegedly are and do some pre-broadcast research if the alphabet is so difficult for you.
In the women's 100 hurdles tonight he referred to the Bahamian athlete Devynne Charlton as "Charlston," and after the Greek Elisavet Pesiridou fell to the ground he pronounced her surname as something like "Pierce -ee- ah- do."
