Been running for a few months now. I'm slow / fat (dropped 15 lbs since starting tho) etc.
The past five weeks I've averaged about 25 mpw after building up to that over a 6-8 week period. The first week at 25 was tough but by week 3 it wasn't a big deal. I've been working on dropping the pace a bit and dropped most of my training pace from 10:30 or so to like 9:30ish pace in the past two weeks.
Once a week I do a hilly run or treadmill incline around the same speed as my training pace, and another day i'll do some intervals a minute or two faster than training pace depending on the distance. Other days are just steady or easy runs @ training pace.
I've run every day for the most part, last day off was July 4th for the holiday. I was thinking maybe I should take today off just to see how I feel and cause I will have more time to go a bit longer over the weekend to make up for it. I'm not particularly sore today but I'm just a little sleepy and figure why not put myself in a good spot to try adding in a 90 minute longish run over the weekend. Still might do something this afternoon after work (probably lift weights then jog a 5k if anything) but I just ate a big lunch so I missed my 'normal window' for a Friday run for at least another 3-4 hours.
Anyway basically every advice says NOT to run 7 days a week as a beginner. I've felt it's worked for me overall to run 7, though 6 may be slightly better. I tend to do short ~4 mile runs everyday, which gives me the perfect time to do the run and shower during my lunch hour at work. If I felt sore I would just jog for 20 minutes and do a little longer and harder another day, but something about getting out there just about every day helps me to stay motivated.
What are thoughts from experienced runners on here about training 6/7 days a week as an out of shape HJer
