I’m glad he beat Mo Ahmed. Have not been a fan of him ever since the fiasco with Avila.
He doesn’t seem like a good sport

Crazy I actually found myself rooting for him to medal. He got absolutely dusted the last 250 though. Dunno how you can make up that kind of closing speed for 2024.

The Canadian-born USA athlete beats the Somali-born Canadian athlete. Seems about right.

Who logs on to letsrun after a major olympic race and expects to not see spoilers? This is your fault.

What a run by Grant.
What kind of medal does one get for 5th? Tin?
I noticed you’ve felt the need to post this very same comment on 3 threads. If you’re American, shame on you. Get some mf’ing pride.

You don't know the medal's of the 2021 Olympics? I believe he gets the Led medal I wouldn't do the whole put the medal in your mouth trick if I was him.
1. Gold
2. Silver
3. Bronze
4. Wood
5. Led
So 5th is like a bright flashlight? Pretty cool!
This performance reminds me a lot of Rupp in 2008. Rupp then won silver in 2012. I think Fisher is on the same trajectory.

no one had any expectations for the americans in this race. a lot of people believed some would even be lapped (those same people also apparently thought it would be a 2630 race...great prediction!). so to finish 5th in one of the strongest 10k fields ever assembled is pretty good and he seems to be on an exciting trajectory moving forward.

You get a tattoo of the Olympic Rings if you want it. Something no Tinman athlete has been able to do.

Agreed. He could have won and this character would have still complained. Some people can never be made Happy.
Grant is young, He will be in a good spot to medal in only 3 years.

5th place. Are we actually celebrating 5th place.
US distance running historically sucks. Still no medal.
Imagine celebrating if the US was 5th in the 400M or 100H or 400H or 100m or 200m or 110H or Shot Put or 4x1 or 4x4
stop with this BS

At grade school to high school meets this would be the green ribbon..
Great run by Grant. Also happy to see Woody fall off the back.

i think you need to readjust your expectations for US athletes in the 10k. when you are the 13th or so fastest guy on paper and finish 5th behind arguably the best 10k runners in history...it was a world class performance.

Can we praise Grant without trashing hunter? Is that possible? If anything we should be comparing Fisher to Brazier since they are both from Michigan.
But this was an incredible run for Grant. I think he now looks like he can do about the same in the 5k
Amazing race for Grant Fisher.
He raced maturely, didn’t expend energy unnecessarily, hung in there well and in the end placed higher then most everyone expected.
Dude beat some serious studs today.
What a great future he has.
Well done Mr. Fisher
