I for one don’t like them…some of the tops last night looked purple.

Agreed that the bottoms look a little too much like underwear.
Why shouldn't they? Women race in underwear, that's the norm. "Bun huggers" is just fancy speak for panties. Russian language, for instance, doesn't make that distinction.
I'm honestly surprised that most women don't care and just go along with it. I would definitely wear at least split shorts. Is it that much more comfortable for a girl to wear just underwear while running?
Here’s a question: Why can you only buy the (marathon?) singlet that no one is wearing?

Sell the kits!
...Uganda be kidding me.

No. This isn't soccer, so no "kits" are involved.

No. Kits are worn in soccer. That's it. No other sport. It's called a UNIFORM!

You must be fun at parties.
When did Germany move away from adidas and go with Nike? They've been in adidas kits forever.
They seem to fit weird as well:

Since at least Rio if not earlier.

Outfits for ceremonies and casual wear for the whole team are adidas.
Competition clothes are by whoever has a deal with the national federation for that sport.
The DLV is with Nike since 2005, current contract runs till 2028.

I've listened to Tim Hutchins for years and the English call the Uniforms "Kits" .
They ruined the NBA uniforms too.

As someone who looks very much like her German parent, can confirm this 100% true for me. Any sort of warm color makes me look awful (yellows, oranges, bold greens, reds, etc.). Granted, Germany's flag colors are already hard to work with, but no reason they can't take the same approach as they do with their soccer kits and use black/white.
The German athletics kit was white with a red band (and the coat of arms, i.e. black eagle on yellow small in the middle of the band) for many decades. The German rowers still have a kit in that tradition today. It looks a bit 1950s but it had the advantage of being quite distinctive to spot in a crowded field because nobody else had a similar one.
For some reason they started all kinds of crazy experiments in the last 20 years. One was mostly black and red, one had a lot of gold and the last one had white, black and a bright yellow and I found this quite ugly but it still retained a memory of the red band with "GERMANY" in red letters and a small coat of arms. And the colors were bright so fair complexioned people did not look sick.
But the current German kit is among the ugliest things I have ever seen and anyone responsible for designing and approving it for purchase, should be fired and never employed again in a responsible position. It is probably Nike's fault because it is along the same principles as the US (with clear red or blue distorted to a dirty purple) and all the other striped shirts.
The Ugandans look like wasps but with dark skin the bright red/yellow still does not look that bad. But the German kit reminds of pyjamas or the old style striped prisoner's outfits.

Nike did go crazy with the stripes. Everyone looks like they're going to a cartoon prison (like Paddington 2).
Kenya's looks pretty good in comparison although I didn't like them initially.
What about the all in one aeroswift bodysuits? Surely that isn't the ideal fabric for the heat there?
The German one is REALLY bad...

Agreed, I hate the stripes. The USA tops remind me of Ernie from Sesame Street. The women's bun huggers look like underwear to me with the wide bands around the waist and legs, just like the horrible New Balance uniforms from a few years ago.
