Mentors coach Sean Rice and coach Bart Sessa.
learned from coaches like Steve Scott (California State University San Marcos) (Undergrad) and Scott Simmons (Queens University of Charlotte) (Graduate School).
Brosnan worked xc camps.
Brosnan shared his vision with parents and kids.
3:44 1500 meters
4:00 1609 meters (mile)
Passionate about coaching.
Bob Williams (Oregon Track Club coach) gave him an opportunity to work with professional athletes in Portland at the Nike Campus. This was after John Cook left Nike Oregon Track Club.
Brosnan was able to coach and work with Jonathan Riley before Riley connected and worked with Nike.
Now Brosnan sets the standards high to equip athletes to have the mentality to live in the right way. The mentality will prepare the athlete for a lifestyle of a professional in the future.
Bruh is playing chess while the rest of high school coaches are playing checkers. Without the knowledge from the pros, how will anyone in the high school ranks ever compete?
Dude just knows more.

I’m sure that’s exactly what my HS coach, a former pro with shockingly similar PRs to Brosnan. thought as well, before he miraculously-over the course of two years- turned a couple 4:50 guys into 4:30 guys with his “elite training”. You can’t just throw college and pro level workouts at untrained teenagers and expect to see the results that Brosnan has. The talent needs to be there first. The only people that don’t know this are exceptionally gifted runners who can’t accept the facts that
1. they are fast because they were born that way,
2. they don’t get injured because it is easier for their body to adapt to training,
and
3. they continue to respond to training well past the point that many people do because their genetics allow them to continue building endurance.
All that being said, Newbury Park is an incredible program and being from California it is so exciting to watch them. It just gets really old seeing people stroke Brosnans ego when the truth is pretty easy to understand if you just think for one second. “Dude just knows more”
Please.
Does anyone else's BS meter completely spike when they hear that guy interviewed? He really seems to think it's all about him and his knowledge and name dropping. They are darn good for sure! How much is coaching and how much is fast kids? I've seen a gazillion threads about transfers and incoming studs over the past few years.

You should try to talking to him in person. Totally insufferable.
I mean this is a guy who has his top 7 up in Big Bear for a full month in the summer.
I have coached a couple of sub 4:10 highschool runners. A lot of it is talent, but you still have to get kids to be motivated to run, not over train them, and train them properly. So I would say good on Sean for doing all those things. Most of the information on how to train is out there already. It's just how you apply it. Not sure about all the hate on the guy. He is like pretty much most highschool coaches that are successful with thier teams. They are training the kids like an elite level college team and have kids transfer in. Personally I think you should have fun during highschool doing things outside of just running.
Most of the hate probably stems from his abrasive personality and constant need to be the center of attention. If you seek the spotlight, not all of the attention is going to be positive.
