I never thought I'd be able to give up the sport, but I can't take it anymore. I havn't run for the last month because of achilles tendonitis, I was pain free for a while and ibuprofen free for the last 7 days. Today I tried an easy thirthy minutes, about 20 minutes into the run all the achilles pain came back.
Then, in the evening since I only ran for about 30 minutes, I figured that I would go for a bike ride. I ride out for 45 minutes (about 8-12 miles), the back wheel of the bikes goes flying off. I don't know how it happened, but I was turning and then all of a sudden I start flying (I landed in the grass luckily unhurt). I put the wheel back on, then continue on riding. Then less than a half mile later I'm riding up a hill, and I get a flat. I was just gonna ride back on the flat tire, but the inner tube got stuck and wrapped around the back tire.
I had to walk back to my house from there. I took me about 45 minutes to bike out, and 2 hours on a injured achilles to walk back to my house. Not only was it a pain in the ass, I'll probaly get some west niles because of all the bugs. The walk back was even worse because I live in a town with a lot of rolling hills and walking on an injured achilles is something you don't want.
In need of some motivation,
Tim
