Smoke=fire.
What is the sexual misconduct? Commenting on someone's size of butt?
Agreed. You can't make this stuff up.
Alberto is a unique individual and is VERY driven. He was a fierce competitor. Many on this message board don't and won't understand. If you're not from the same mindset you're going to have issues. I think it was especially difficult for the women, and his approach although abrasive and some say offensive was never a personal one. It came from a strong "Self- Centered" belief that winning was the priority and sugar coating was not an option. Alberto was always on the cutting edge of training and racing with regard to training aids, supplements, and performance enhancers (not illegal).
The damage is done, and so is Alberto.
Hitler was a unique individual and was VERY driven. He was a fierce competitor. Many on this message board don't understand. If your're not from the same mindset you're going to have issues. I think it was especially difficult for the Jewish people and the Brits.

Why does it say "Subject to Appeal / Not Yet Final" ?
I would assume because he has the right to appeal, therefore the decision is not yet final. But what do I know

Speaking to the SS side of things and not WADA/USADA: Salazar was temporarily suspended in January 2020. The decision handed down yesterday ends his temporary suspension.
To understand SS's procedures, go read about them. They are there in black and white on SS website.
If you want to know what happened such that Salazar was deemed permanently ineligible ask him to release his copy of the investigative report which he received yesterday.
I have not read the report, but I am sure over 90% of it is what we already know. If comments made by a coach in any sport in reference to an athlete's body and weight constitutes sexual and emotional abuse, then we are in trouble. I know Alberto 'somewhat' and based what I think I know about Mary Cain or any girl in her teens, it was not a good march up. A few things I know about Alberto; he does not have a lot of personality, per se. This is not to say he is a weird guy; he is not the warm and friendly type with a great sense of humor at least when it comes to running. He is direct and to the point, which some athletes like, but it apparently did not work well with a young Mary Cain especially her with her personality and background. Alberto is all business when it comes to running. He is obsessive in his desire to win, and winning is not just about the effort, it is about results and perhaps this obsessiveness is what got him into trouble. Alberto basically took his obsessive approach to running as an athlete into coaching. If you where an NOP athlete, you trained hard and everything in your life had to be prioritized around running.
Without a doubt, Alberto is flawed in many ways, but the label of sexual and emotional abuser is unwarranted. I think it is sad when an athlete is getting perhaps the best training money can by, but because she her performances are declining, she choose to make the issue about her coaches poor bedside manner. Mary Cain's, Simone Biles and Naomi Osaka attitudes would never be accepted from a male athlete. These athletes make female athletes look weak.
Speaking with some other former members of the NOP, this is absolutely the right call.
I don't mean to kick a man while he's down, but everyone involved have hinted at the idea that he was an absolute bully.

Yeah, the pencil necked elderly punkassbitch salazar was a real tough guy when it came to abusing girls and pasty elfin boys. He'd get his skull thumped if he tried to pull that on a full grown woman or man.
If things were so bad with Alberto, why then did she go back and try and do a contract deal with him months later?!?! This is a known fact and she is being completely disingenuous in her criticism! “Sexual Misconduct” - what a load of Total Crapola - he hasn’t ever touched anyone ever in appropriately - it’s all f’ing nonsense !!!

Your move, low-information poster.
Body shaming young girls IS abuse. The fact that you are a coach and dismiss that is frightening. I find it fascinating that with no evidence or proof you call the charges "unwarranted"

Do you have proof or are you just talking out of your fan boy ass?
"I have not read the report, but I am sure over 90% of it is what we already know."
Maybe I'm mistaken.
I have no affiliation with Nike.
So al sal was in court. Defending this With a lawyer? When? I've never heard about this at all.
Your summary is very accurate.
I’ll add - NOP was put together to get Americans to where they could compete for medals in distance on the world stage.
That environment is not a place for kids.
I guess it's a good thing I'm not a coach.because if it was my job to make you as fast as possible and you gained weight. I'd be a terrible coach to just ignore that. I wouldn't be offended at all If my coach told me I was a bit overweight and I was. Gender is irrelevant.
Mary Cain petered out. It happens. He's had remarkable success as a coach so it's really idiotic to paint him in this light of destroying athletes abilities.
I read Mary Cain's op Ed. I'm not convinced. Jordan Hasay wasn't either.
Btw thanks to all the posters above who clarified some things for me. I first responded before reading through the thread

Salazar is banned from the sport of Track and Field.

hahahahahahha. Mods pretending they actually care about facts
You seem like a very interesting person…
This is dangerous and for all of you that believe this is a just way to ban a man you believe is dirty, then you are as much of problem as dopers! Nothing, and I repeat nothing about this warrants a life time ban. He told, not called, told an ATHLETE, not a female, not a girl, AN ATHLETE that they were fat/overweight/not fit because in order to accomplish HER goals she needed to pay attention to her fitness! I see many are calling this abuse. Lies! You are being sexist. If it were a man you would not be calling it anything other than coaching.
Newsflash, a part of coaching is bullying, as it is currently defined. This is a fact. When a coach says jump, you ask how high. Period. When he/she ask you to do something, it is not optional. It is not a request. If he/she berates you for a less than optimal performance or "body composition" it is necessary for the athletes requested success. It is the coaches responsibility to PUSH you, PULL you, SUPPORT you, and CONVINCE you that your impossible is possible, this not always a nice conversation. They are the living example of your own inner voice, you know the one that screams at you sometimes, calls you out, the one that drags your flaws into the forefront of your consciousness! Sorry ladies and gentleman, banning this man because he is not nice, is not a good thing on any level! It has set a very dangerous precedent too.
I read through all the claims here about what safe sport's procedures are. There was not a single sentence from them here stating that reports are private. I'm not going to go read their code. No one posted that part of it. It's absurd to have a ban without knowing what the ban is for. I'm not in opposition to a ban on Salazar. What we do know is that he was violating rules or twisting them to allow him to violate the spirit of the rules, which is itself a direct violation of the WADA code's language. Hitting on one adult athlete couldn't be the basis for any such ban, because there are many examples of coaches doing that where the athlete accedes to it and so the difference surely cannot be the result--the action itself would be nothing in itself unless the athlete affirms it but no one would know in advance whether that would happen. I'm thinking of Hudson and his marathoner, who had a relationship, and then maybe the Colorado and NAU coaches, and maybe even Mags with Salazar's athlete.
The solution is don't sign any more contracts with Mary Cain's.
Also change the terms of the contract.
We agree to optimize ourselves in order to compete with international athletes at the highest level.
