And Schneider chokes again. She's one of those runners who look amazing against people who she should beat and crumbles the second she gets under a tiny bit of pressure. Not making it out of the easy heat.

I think Schneider will go even tho she was 8th? Will be close. McColgan got beat up and dropped back fast.
I am not sure about Schneider
Missed it by 2 spots.

But Niyonsaba now out. Will McColgan protest & get in?
She’s in. At least NBC says so.

Anyone know why Niyonsaba was DQed?

Then there is precedent for her to appeal?
Niyonsaba was just to the left of McColgan when the incident happened and McColgan looked to her left before she started to stumble. It was a close up front view so I couldn't see anything below their torsos so there is no way to tell if contact happened.

Ran hard the whole race. 98% humidity, upper 70s, tough to run real fast. Missed qualifying by 1/2 a second.
That was actually a very good run from all the Americans given the weather. Hard to know how much it affects each individual—some calculators out there suggest 30-40 seconds but that seems pretty aggressive. But safe to say 15-20, which would put all the Americans in the 14:30-45 range in a prelim that went out slowly.
Can you file a protest for getting clipped like that and falling off the back? Not like she fell.

Why do you keep bringing up the conditions? It's the same for everyone.

She looked to be in noticeable pain. Poster above says NBC says Elish is on to the finals. Some silly relay up and then M 10K.

Poor Americans, no one told them it was going to be hot and humid in Tokyo. She can't run in competitive races, I have to agree.

Is there actually a source for this? All I've heard of is some punditry conjecture, nothing official.
