Get 5th behind two ethiopians and two ugandans? Yeah pretty good

Kissa and the Ugandans did what they could to 'weaken' Baraga, but even tho they did get him to bite a little, it wasn't enough.
I am sure part of him will wonder what he could have done to snag a medal, but I truly think he ran the best race he could today. Ranked 13th in terms of time in the World, finished 5th.
Terrific race from Fisher.
Separately this Peacock studio team is pure trash.
For all the talk of Cheptegei having a bad year, it was more of a tactical/positioning mistake in the end. Cheptegei was closing but ran out of space and had to go around Kiplimo and Aregawi. Not sure what he was thinking. Needed to take a page from Mo Farah's book and not let anyone take the lead after 800 to go and he might've been able to hold off Barega.

Huh? Did Rupp’s gold medal disappear?

Kiplimo cut in a bit on Cheptegei and made him chop his step a bit right as he was getting ready to go on the first turn of the last lap
Also, Cheptegei shows that many (including me) underrated him, he was not far off. Kiplimo was badly positioned with 800 to go.

Reminded me of Todd Williams - another Michigander - in the early 90s. Just with a little better final 600.

No. He's run 27:11.29
Cheptegai let himself get boxed. He looked to have the strength/speed at the end, he had the positioning earlier, but put himself in a bad position. He lost that race.

Not even close. Although heat-adjusted, it probably is close. In good conditions I bet Grant can challenge the AR.

Yeah I'm really not sure who they are supposed to be appealing to? Then again, it is NBC coverage

Rupp got silver in London.
How fast was the last lap?
2:25, last 1000m
Patrick Tiernan, completely dehydrated and delirious at finish, but good run by him, kudos. Wanders, 28:55.29.
Now that Barega has moved up to the 10,000 I am excited to see him and Cheptegei fight it out (and Kiplimo too) for the next 3-5 years at WCs and in Paris.
