There is just no way that it was hard work alone that helped this kid swim a 6s 400m PB in just a few months.

I'm surprised he didn't say Jesus was his drug. (Or, rather, Allah).
There will be a lot more outrageous pb's before the Games are over.
I can assure you he is on tons of PEDs. Who has ever heard of any drug testing in Tunisia?

Racist POS
Are you kidding me? What does race have to do with my post at all? He's a good looking kid who I'm sure has nothing but a life of advantage ahead of him - I also think he takes PEDs. The part that I'm concerned about for these Olympics is the PEDs.
Was I racist when I believed Shelby took PEDs or am I only racist if I think someone from Tunisia takes drugs? How does this work for you? Do you think only American white people take PEDs? I don't know what your point is here.
Maybe I don’t know that much about swimming, but an 18 year old improving 6 seconds over the swimming equivalent to the mike doesn’t seem that strange? Super impressive of course but not insane?
5 - Strong sporting genes
Hafnaoui isn't the only athlete in his family.
The swimming prodigy is the son of ex-Tunisian national basketball player Mohamed Hafnaoui, which helps explain where his long limbs and and explosive muscle come from!

He's been swimming since he was 4. He's not new to the sport or competing internationally, he's just new to winning internationally. If a runner was setting mile PB's with every run leading up to the Olympics including the final, it would indeed be very strange. He also did that gold medal swim in the slowest lane - he was in lane 8 because he was the slowest qualifier, but swam an amazing time (for him) to qualify. He just, at this stage of his career, got significantly faster with every swim. Ok.
I admit I think a huge percentage of athletes are taking PEDs, so I am jaded and do not believe in the Cinderella stories. You also can't convince me that Tadej Pogacar is clean, but some people swear he is.

So 15 year old americans can win swimming gold but 18 year old tunisians can't where were the suspicions of doping when Ledecky won gold in 2012. Of course its because he is arab tunisia does not even have a doping history like morrocco has either.
The "western democratic" (sur mesure) model that the west wanted to promote in Tunisia is crumbling.

+1.
How is this different than the American swimmers of the last 20 years?
Ahmed Hafnaoui. A real student of the sport, and it seems that the great one above, Allah, has decided to gift Ahmed Hafnaoui with the ability to be a world-class winner and champion.
This is destiny and God’s will.
Doubtful he uses PED’s as he’s been under the microscope for the past year, also training frequently in Antalya, Turkey, where the testers can test him at any time and where many French world class swimmers also train including Florent Manaudou. This kid was also gifted with great genes his father being a member of the Tunisian national basketball team.

God's will? That clearly rules out drugs then.

jeezus christ you religious nuts, I truly hope you are being facetious here. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE FOR THE EXISTENCE OF GODS AND GODDESSES!! None whatsoever. And plenty of circumstantial evidence they either do not exist, or if they do, that they are uncaring sadistic psychopaths.
But let's suppose, just for a moment, that this was true. Why would anyone be happy about this, if they were actually a rational thinking being? If I were Hafnaoui himself, and learned that allah/god/the flying spaghetti monster his/her/itself had actually willed me to be an Olympic gold medalist, I would be PISSED OFF. Do you know why I'd be pissed off? Because this supposedly supreme being, who apparently has unlimited powers, chose to care about my swimming, rather than do ANYTHING AT ALL to end the awful suffering that goes on in this world. The abuse of women and little kids, the human trafficking, genocides, murder, torture, abuse, and on and on and on. But hey, he helps people find their car keys, he appears on pieces of toast, yadda yadda.
If you believe any of this in the year 2021 you are an idiot, purely and simply.
I understand your post and I understand perfectly where you’re coming from and I respect you for saying what you believe. The point I was trying to make was that someone brought up in Islam as well as this kid will be influenced and had his life direction basically set from birth because of that environment and no matter how logical or relevant your argument is those kids brought up under Islam will believe in the might of Allah.
This might seem logical to you but if you were brought up in that environment U2 would probably believe the same thing as this kid and believe that he was gifted from above even though that seems to be an aberration do you.
You could take a debate from someone with your position and someone from the other side position that is from someone who believes in Islam and the debate would go on ad infinitum because there would be no consensus of opinion on the central issue.
For this reason and others, we should respect people for the environment they grew up in as being the most important factor or one of the most important factors in their lives. This may seem illogical to you to you but it definitely plays a part.
It would be difficult or impossible to have an impartial arbitrator proclaiming the superiority of christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, agnosticism, atheism, etc. Where do we draw the line? At the end of the day, if we can respect each other and our beliefs and each other’s beliefs that would be a good thing.
Typo:” This might seem logical to you”
Correct:” This might seem illogical to you“

Many Tunisians are white so I'm not sure how this may necessarily be racist. Or is this some fake woke racism?
