Kerr is in a tremendous shape at the moment.
The mental gymnastics to hype Kerr are out of control.
Race A: Athlete A gets paced absolutely perfect with metronomic splits through 600m to go with a 3:30 possible with a solo kick. Slows slightly to run 3:31.5.
Race B: Athlete B gets taken out 2 seconds fast (54.6) through 440 and then is brought through at slow tempo through 600m to go. Manages to pick it up a tiny bit to run 3:32.2 equivalent.
Athlete A has no international credentials.
Athlete B has won a gold medal in the Olympics and two international medals.
A is Kerr, B is Centro and I have no reason to believe Kerr is actually in "tremendous shape" relative to Centro. They're both in very good shape obviously. But I'd argue Race B was the better performance.
