Malmo that must have been right before his divorce. I hope this guy gets the mental help and medication he needs.

Who are the former friends who think she was playing this for the attention?
"She has lost close friends, who didn't believe Donnelly was a threat and accused her of seeking attention."

Not necessarily, when we were communicating on Messenger, in the last year, at some point I was away from the computer and when I came back I saw that he had tried to audio call me. In his messages following the “call” he seemed confused about it and at some point he said “one of the wives logged into his account and tried to talk to me”
He said he was married to 4 women. I really hope his situation gets taken very seriously and he gets taken care of properly.

Ah, so he'd claim it was either him/his wife or wives when he had moments of shame or it was just more of the delusion. It's a shame he wasn't able to get help or perhaps refused it when he was with his real wife.

I don’t think he’s had the mental clarity to ask for help or decide to accept help since his accident.
The whole thing is very disturbing. I am beyond happy that these women are being taken seriously finally.
The system is failing him but the system is also failing these women.
Sad story for everyone involved including the guy. The system definitely failed both of them.

Donnelly is a complete sociopath, if not psychopath. The only hope for this man would be institutionalization and high dose Haldol or Thorazine. There is no hope whatsoever that he could function normally in society and should be institutionalized indefinitely.

If it was Portland, the police barely exist any longer. Bowing down to ANTIFA has consequences. Blame that pu$$y mayor.

I know this isn't the point of the story and I feel bad bringing this up, but:
There was some serious finger pointing towards Nike for handling this poorly making her return to Oregon to race. Is she the next one to leave Bowerman?
Infeld’s fiancée works for Nike, which did — to their credit — apparently devote a lot of security resources to protecting Infeld when the police failed to do so.
I think most Nike athletes would say to a person that they don’t like the Swoosh’s reductions clauses.
My impression is that Nike influence is the only reason this case was pursued and being prosecuted. Didn't the article say hers was one of only 3 in the past several years to get that kind of attention. And given the obvious mental component it's odd that it was pursued so aggressively when it appears to be all online.
It's an awful story and incredibly scary but as noted hundreds or thousands of people are dealing with it and worse and not getting any attention.
What a messed up story. The guy is on LI too, extremely unstable. I hope this is all behind her for good.
I hope she has read The Gift of Fear by Gavin de Becker - he has some good insights into the unintended effects of restraining orders in the more unhinged.

You have literally no knowledge of mental illness.
Donnelly unfortunately likely has a psychotic disorder that's emerged in the setting of a serious traumatic brain injury. He would benefit from a mood stabilizer and an antipsychotic. Because we have done away with asylums (thanks, Reagan!), he needs an intensive case manager and likely a conservator.
Thinking of Emily; how scary!

I'm confused. After telling the other poster that he has no knowledge of mental illness, you go on to basically agree with him.

All online? He sent packages to her home and then relocated himself to Portland, confessing to police that he meant to intimidate her. The police clearly could have intervened but didn’t read him his rights.
Interesting that your first reaction is "I hope the guy gets the mental help he needs" rather than empathy for Infeld.
