Tragedy for Ecuador. Sprinter suspended, misses Tokyo.
The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) on Wednesday confirmed the one-year suspension for breach of his whereabouts obligations for Ecuadorian sprinter Alex Quinonez, 3rd in the 200m at the 2019 Worlds.
Suspended provisionally since June 25 for breach of his anti-doping whereabouts obligations, Alex Quinonez saw his suspension be extended to year, by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) on Wednesday. The Ecuadorian sprinter, bronze medalist in the 200m at the last World Championships in Doha, in 2019, will therefore miss the Tokyo Olympic Games (July 23 - August 8).
