But that's the thing. He had COVID recently, and thus widespread immunity. No need to get a vaccine that targets a single epitope when you've got it across the board. I'm all for the vaccine, but never has anyone ever believed that a vaccine would be more effective at future protection than the actual virus.
Of course for people who have no exposure it makes sense because you don't want to get sick, but he's already had it. Plus, you can still test positive without symptoms after having the vaccine, which is far less likely than if you had the virus.
tl;dr: vaccine > getting COVID, but if you've already had it the vaccine is not helpful. The science is not supporting a need for a booster at this time.
