Yes, The title was deceptive and I was expecting to see it 11 or 12 year old boy . You make a good point and he looks close to 20 at least to me, so he’s nearing maturity. I think maybe his true age is around 17 or 18 and remember that in Kenya secondary school students are often still studying until the age of around 20 because they have to “double up” when they fail the class.
He has a good running style and he looks quite strong and muscular so it’s almost like he’s a middle distance runner rather the long distance runner in the making. However, to put some perspective on this there are hundreds (or thousands) of others just like him. So no big deal.

Ah yes, you are correct. There are no teenagers in Kenya, according to you.
This guy looks at least 30 too.

It was probably a set up. Teenage runner wants to get signed by an Italian agency, gets somebody to film him while he runs behind a group of 'elites' on their easy run with his satchel. Quickly goes viral.
I must say I like the Kenyan news presenter. We don't have male news readers with that kind of gravitas carrying voice anymore.
What did they do with the prisoner after they captured him?
Oh, heavens no! Someone save this kid, quick!
This kid looks to be almost 20 years old by the bone structure in his face. Good luck to the Brazilian coach but I’m wondering if this person even registered with athletics Kenya in Nairobi because otherwise he might get into trouble if he supervises the sporty without the appropriate permit from athletics Kenya in Nairobi which we went through on another thread yesterday and which confirms that foreign coaches even if they coach in a volunteer capacity need to be registered with athletics Kenya and pay the appropriate fees each year which can amount to around $4000 at least or more depending on each case because to do so will need to register in person with a personal interview at Athletics Kenya.
The effect of these new rules could see some foreign coaches deciding that the trouble is not worth it and go to other countries with more flexible arrangements such as Uganda, Tanzania , Rwanda and Burundi where there’s also plenty of talent but less development, less restrictions.
Ethiopia is also out because it is much more controlled by the governing bodies in Ethiopia and a foreign coach grabbing athletes would not be appreciated.

In this link it’s confirmed that his official age (often times official ages are not accurate and he may even be older but let’s not speculate ) is 20 years old, so he’s hardly an immature school boy but good luck to him anyway.
At this age this kid could be a college junior in the United States. Maybe US college coaches in division one are watching or maybe not?
Maybe it’s lucky he was nabbed by this Brazilian coach because there are hundreds if not thousands of other kids like him in the Rift Valley with similar talent and physical shape.
In the blog he states that he runs to school every morning 4 kilometers away between 10 to 15 minutes so this means he sometimes runs at three minutes per kilometer, or around five minutes per mile pace.
The Carioca coach should take him to the track and assess his true value with some tests over 100, 200 and 400 m. That would give an indication of his basic speed which is something of innate value and cannot be changed much.
