I completely understand why Cole Hocker is not vaccinated. By the time he was eligible, it was probably NCAA's, then it was US Olympic trials. Now it's the Olympics. He does not want to lose any training or risk a bad reaction.
Of course, he also does not want to risk covid. The new variants are affecting a higher percentage of younger healthy adults. He would likely lose more training getting covid than getting the vaccine.
Of course, the main reason you get the vaccine when you are young is for the older folks. The less virus is spreading the less risk there is for all of us getting and spreading it (or having a bad outcome from it). That is the science. That is what the scientists are saying. They are not saying don't get it if you are young and healthy. If you follow the scientist that is what they are saying.
