How windy does it get on the bridge?
I hope Emily Infeld wins and immediately announces she is leaving BTC
Can get pretty windy for sure. Looking like a west wind on race day though which would be at their backs.
Live stream from Instagram (@guardianmile) of both elite races starting at 7:55 p.m. EST for women and 8:10 p.m. for men.
Osika ftw. Unless shes gets nearly knocked over like she did at the Trials.

That you think that video explains/justifies her being stalked says a lot more about you than it does about women.
Terrible camera work on the live stream. I demand a refund!
I am wondering why nobody has mentioned the men's top 4 times (all 3:50 and better) unless the legitimacy of the performance is in doubt?
Course is downhill
The course is certified and the elite races were FAT. It's point to point and slightly net downhill (with almost all of that in the last half mile). More importantly these were definitely the best elite fields we've had yet, perfect weather (75 degrees, 5 mph tailwind). I also hate to be "super shoes" guy but they were not really widespread yet for road miles yet in 2019 and were ubiquitous last night. The community heat winner actually ran a couple seconds slower than two years ago.

Guardian Mile Press Release 2021
[For Immediate Release] History was made on the Hope Memorial Bridge Saturday night. Over 500 runners raced over the most iconic bridge in Cleveland. Many of them stuck around to enjoy Mitchell’s Homemade Ice Cream and Georgio’s Oven Fresh Pizza at the finish, joined by throngs of spectators. A raucous crowd was treated to new event and Ohio soil records in both the men’s and women’s elite races.
The Under Armour High School and Youth Heat kicked off the night. McDonald graduate Brody Rupe led almost 250 runners through the tape in a new event division record of 4:19.83. Katie Clute of Olmsted Falls High School broke the tape for the girls in 4:58.83 (another record).
Next up was the Market Garden Community Heat. Eric Rupe (29) of Youngstown defended his 2019 title with a time of 4:10.15. “I felt terrible the first 800 meters going up the hill, but started feeling good on the downhill.” Bre Bakan (25), also of Youngstown, was the women’s winner (4:55.01). In the Nordonia Dental Group Stroller Division, Jesse Armbruster (36) won in a blistering time of 5:00.94, while Ro Morgan (33) of Cortland was the first woman (6:20.97). In the final community race, the Thomas C. Loepp Law Offices Competitive Masters Heat, Daniel Gibson (41) of Columbus won in a new division record of 4:32.80, as did Kristy Hill Fritz (41) of Bay Village (5:30.46).
All of these races built momentum for the Monticello Associates Elite Heats. By the time the elite wom
en went off, the crowd at the finish line was in a frenzy. “The crowd hit critical mass this year,” said Don Alexander, finish line MC and husband of race director Rae Alexander. “The weather was absolutely perfect,” said Nate Brannen, three-time Olympian and elite coordinator. “This is also the first year we’ve seen ‘super shoes’ on a widespread level in the elite heats.” Grace Barnett (4:21.58) held off defending champion and previous Ohio soil record holder Shannon Osika (4:22.20) for a new state record. The top five women all broke Osika’s record from 2019. 2016 Olympian Emily Infeld (a University Heights native) was seventh in 4:27.98. “That bridge is incredible, and the crowd was amazing,” said third place finisher Dani Jones (4:23.05). “Definitely the most fun race and weekend of the season,” said Dani Aragon (fifth in 4:24.75). Eight women broke 4:30.
On the men’s side, Johnny Gregorek (3:49.07) held off Sam Prakel (from Versailles, OH), who also dipped under 3:50 (fully automatic timing). Colby Alexander from Strongsville was fourth in 3:50.28. The top eight men broke the existing Ohio soil record (3:56), which was set at an indoor track meet at the I-X Center almost forty years ago. Eleven men broke the course record and thirteen broke four minutes. “Fun race, fun race to be in, good group of guys to push the pace with, just excited to get under the previous course record,” said Bryce Richards (ninth in 3:57.01). “We’re looking to taking another step forward next year – see you on the bridge next summer!” said race director Rae Alexander.
happy to see the athlete specials training partner with a 354, but that also makes me question the times way more. he ran 4 flat on the track for the mustache mile (perfectly paced to break 4) and now he runs 6 seconds faster? and all the other guys ran pretty bad at the trials so hard to believe they are now faster or around the same times as centro.
He broke the drought at least.
I'm more mad at the '85-'89 Browns choking and not getting past the Broncos. Would have been nice seeing them in the SB, even if they lost.
The '92 Cavs, even had they gotten by the '92 Bulls, would have had their hands full with the Blazers, so there was no guarantee there either. That '92 team was very good but not quite as good as the LeBron teams in the mid-'10s, but probably better than the first LeBron team that made it to the Finals.
The Indians just blew it big-time, even on a bigger level than the Browns in the '80s.

Eh, Gregorek Ciattei and Alexander have all been around the times they ran recently though. Probably still a course that maybe is a tad faster than a track but probably not by much.
Same course as previous years. Certified course, as the official press release says. Willis won this twice and raved about it. His times were 3:58 and 3:59. This year was an amazing group of guys on a perfect night who were just coming off the trials. They were hammering from the gun.
As for PR’s … some did, some didn’t. Gregorek ran 3:49 and he’s done that on a track. Prakel ran 3:49.98. He’s run 3:50 on a track. Alexander ran 3:50 and he just ran 3:33 2 weeks ago. That’s a 3:50 mile equivalent. The guy you said ran 3:54 and PR’d by 6 seconds. That was David Timlin and he’s run 3:39 for 1500. That’s a 3:56 mile, so a two second PR. Two second PR? It happens. At least six guys did not PR in the field.
Leave it to the LR basement dwelling segment to buzzkill every good result and find a reason the result wasn’t legit.
im just disappointed/confused that none of these fast guys showed up to run fast at the trials

Also, this course is a fair course. Half mile uphill, half mile downhill. It’s challenging.
Video of the men’s elite at the Guardian Mile. Pretty darn impressive.

Ignorant statement from someone who doesn't know the sport. Not worth any more keystrokes than that.

At the Trials, Alexander was coming back from an injury. Since the Trials, he’s in much better shape. Since the Trials, Colby …
Ran 3:33 for 1500. Ranks 17th American All-Time.
Ran 3:50 yesterday, that’s the same as a 3:33.
In a race between those two races, he beat Engels.
