In the market for a new pair of flats. Will be used primarily for 10k but would like something that will be ok for the occasional half or ten miler. Anyone have experience using the run pro for stuff a bit longer?

Swedish runner David Nilsson ran a 2,11 marathon in Run Fast Pro. Two weeks later he ran a 2,10 in a pair of Vaporfly.
It can be done if you are very effficient and light on your feet.
Yea, probably. But anything over half… thats mental man. Can’t imagine wearing racing flats over long distance, well unless efficient strides.
Don’t have the pro, but had V1 of the regular run fast. Liked them for 5-10K. Had them for about a year, did a few long runs and thought, “what the heck, let’s use them in this upcoming half.” Horrible mistake for me.
I’m not nearly an experienced enough runner to use a shoe like this for a half. I land on the forefoot, granted my forms not the best, but it isn’t terrible. There’s not much cushion up there and it was felt near the end. The heel though has tons of cushion amd you feel the bounce of the midsole. But the forefoot…it’s kinda dead feeling to me. I’m sure many would disagree with me, but that’s my experience with the shoe. Also now, I kinda hate using them. I have 176 miles on them and don’t have any interest in using them again. Maybe shoes have gotten better? Maybe I’ve learned what I like in a shoe better now?
Bump. I just bout a pair on the super cheap. Also wondering how far is reasonable to race in these. As a younger man, I wore some pretty minimalist racers for up to the half, but I'm not sure about the pro. I've worn the LT3 for road 10ks and that was the limit for me in that shoe.
I ran them up to the marathon with no issue, actually the best I've ever felt in that distance. Legs felt fine afterward. Whereas I've also raced a marathon in the Streak LTs, and my quads were sore by 18. The new foam is just much more forgiving than EVA, even in a low stack flat.
I'm sure it depends on your stride, weight, speed, but it definitely works for some people. Careful where you run in them, though, the shoe is kind of fragile off road/track.
It´s true that´s most of the cushioning in the regular Run Fast is in the heel. Many short road races in my area have significant sections of gravel walk/bike paths and they are perfect for that. I have never worn a road shoe with such grip. I would never use them for anything longer than a 10k nowadays (I´m 52 years old).
This depends on what your legs are used to. When I was doing 75-100mpw, everything was in flats.
Asics Piranha, Mizuno Wave Universe, Asics Hyperspeed, Nike Streak XC (brilliant shoe, rest in peace)
You certainly can take a shoe like the run fast pro up to the half marathon if your legs are conditioned for it.
And for me the big factor is to run race pace in your preferred race shoe. (Not just speedwork)
