But how many will be in the games? If 3, then he needs to be in that shape to medal.
What did JC run for his last 5k ?

Discuss.
Just watch this:
https://youtu.be/lZUH1ZvEABUAbsolutely unreal. No way he doesn't at least get third.

I think there is a decent chance that Paul medals -- and I am rooting for him. All I will say is that 2 workouts focusing on 200s, 400s, and 600s at sub 60 pace aren't totally indicative of 5k fitness. Totally necessary for him to be doing those workouts because you need great 1500 speed and kicking ability. But I hope those workouts were backed by a sh*t ton of 85-110 mile weeks, 10 mile tempos and hard 20 mile runs.

Needs to be in sub 12:45 shape these days. Also needs to not get DQed. The Olympics will be less forgiving of his on-track antics.
Only 6 people have ever even run under 12:46 let alone in the Olympics which is a notoriously slow/tactical race usually that was a pretty stupid thing for you to say
Mo taught the E’s,K’s and U’s don’t let the race be slow and be in the lead at the start of the last lap. I expect very fast pace in all distance races. The Africans know they can set a fast pace, not blow up, and still have a very good kick come the last lap.
So it is not stupid to say Olympics race will be fast. You must not have been watching what been going on the last fours years.

This is a good tactic to have in theory but in practice most are not ready to commit to an honest pace in all of the most recent championship style races. I hope this trends a different way.
For Chelimo...impressive workout. And now that he's lining up against the big boys he'll shut up and just perform. I don't like his race antics and what he does is just poor etiquette. I've never seen someone swing way out like that in such a high profile race. I also don't appreciate that he comes and talks so much trash but only when he thinks he's assured of a win. When it comes to WC and Olympics you don't hear anything from him, he got a big head with his silver medal but he has not been anywhere near as competitive in WC where he keeps his chatter to himself. And of course he got utterly outclassed by lesser athletes at the NYC Half after saying he was going to spank all the road athletes. No one likes the dude that talks trash only when he's competing against JV and it's just disappointing to see honestly.
For those that are sure to take what I wrote out of context I'm not saying that I don't like trash talk in the sport. It's just disingenuous to come off as this big personality prone to bragging but not show out on the biggest stage. If he wants to talk himself up for whatever reason I think it's good overall for the sport to have some personalities like that. Show up to the big stage and keep talking that big game. Double down man.
One example that your wrong. I can post a bunch more For this group the sit and kick tactics are very bad. They Hammer from the get go and push some more.
Maybe the next generation will go back to the sit and kick tactics, but not this current crop of pro’s.

I am sure, most people on this forum don’t like Chilemo because of his skin color and where he came from. I don’t even think they see him as an American.
White people should stop trying to defend there hatred towards Chilemo by coming with bs excuses, and accept the fact that they are racist
Stop race baiting. People on here don’t like him because he races dirty and then acts all high and mighty. People don’t like dirty racers.

He tried to teach them they didn’t really listen seeming as his last time on the track before he fell apart this year was a win in the world championships over 10,000m and this was AFTER the 4 Olympic gold medals that you said would have taught them not to let the race go slow.
