Mo katir ran 3:28 1500m in asics
Yomif ran 7:26 3000m in adidas
Kiplimo ran 26:33 10000m in mamba’s
It’s safe to say that if dragonfly’s do have an advantage over other new spikes, it is marginal (~0.1s per 400 at best).
Because of the significant benefits vaporfly’s gave marathon runners, people believe in Nike’s ability to provide an edge over the competition.
All the hype has led to non Nike runners running in the dragonfly without there being actual scientific evidence that the dragonfly provides significant benefits over its competition.
Because of the immense hype and trust in nike as a brand, people don’t even try other shoes in major races, leading people (including athletes themselves) to correlate high level performances with the dragonfly.
In reality, dragonfly’s (like other new spikes) make use of new technologies to provide a comfortable yet quick feel, but are not super spikes.
I repeat, dragonfly’s are not super spikes. After all, they don’t even have a carbon plate (they use pebex)
Side note- if dragonfly’s really are super spikes and provide significant advantages [“there’s a pair of spikes that gets you 10 seconds right now”- mason ferlic], then katir should just wear the dragonfly and he’d easily break 3:26.00 for 1500m lol
