I purchased (UCLA fund raising auction) the spikes that Gail Devers wore when she won the 100 meters gold medal at the Barcelona Olympics. The spikes hang on a plaque that states the spikes were worn in the 100 meter final at Barcelona. I was wondering if the spikes would have any value in the memorabilia market. Anyone care to comment?
They are worth whatever someone is willing to pay for them. If you got them in an auction then they were worth more to you than anyone else who participated. Someone out there may pay more. It's all supply and DEMAND. While they are a one-of-a-kind item, the question is the demand. Tom Brady has thrown almost 600 touchdown passes in his career and I bet most people would pay more for any one of the balls than the spikes. However, if you find the right track fan, he/she may pay a lot. I would suggest sending an email to the owners of the following website. It is a T&F memorabilia site and they could probably answer your question better. They may even purchase the spikes from you. Sorry I can't give a better answer.

A guy in college had Jim Ryun's high school spikes, which we thought was very cool. But years later I realize now it had to be BS. He claimed that he went to the same high school and that it was just in the equipment room. Man, we're we gullible and innocent!
I have a 2008 Jamaica Track and Field media guide signed by: SAFP, Kerron Stewart, Sheron Simpson, Veronica Campbell Brown, Asafa Powell, Nesta Carter, Michael Frater, Melanie Walker, Sherricka Williams, Novelen Mills Williams, Brigitte Foster Hylton and Coach Glenn Mills. All athletes wrote their PBs at the time of signing by their names. Since that was a very successful Olympics for Jamaica, I’ve often wondered what that book is worth. What would any of you pay for it?
I did not get a chance to have Usain sign it, but years later someone, as an Xmas gift, gave me signed and personalized Bolt autobiography. That one sits on my shelf.
