Why has Emmanuel Korir's form dropped so much?
Why has Emmanuel Korir's form dropped so much?
You mean how he could go from being the 5th fastest man in history in his first season at 800m before anti-doping testing was ramped up in Kenya, to struggling to break 1:45 after several years being an 800m runner after anti-doping testing was ramped up?
I honestly can't think why.
Anyone?

Yes, something like that.

he ran 1:43 in 2017, 2018, and 2019; in 2020 there was a global pandemic which dramatically reduced the amount of out of competition testing happening. your logic for inferring he was good because of doping here is faulty.
athletes are human. some have problems with their body or mind or life that hold them back.

Anyone? Me!
You can't think why because of your usual racism, Coevett. It blinds you.
And then you resort to your lies.
Let's see...
First Coevett lie: "being the 5th fastest man in history in his first season at 800m" - Korir ran 1:42.05 in 2018. That was his THIRD season competing at a high level.
Second Coevett lie: "before anti-doping testing was ramped up in Kenya" - anti-doping testing was ramped up in Kenya in late 2017/early 2018. Kiprop, for example, was busted in May 2018.
Third Coevett lie: "struggling to break 1:45 after several years being an 800m runner" - First, he only had two seasons competing after his 1:42.05. And in 2019 he ran 1:43.69, and made the World Championships' finals in Doha in the 400 m and 800 m.
In 2021 he is 47 hundredths of a second from breaking 1:45. Not quite "struggling", like you say.
Still can't think why?

Even more impressive than the final was his 400 m semi. Great run by Korir.
I thought the boy made the team (for Tokyo Olympics).
What am I missing?

This would be a great theory except for the fact that Korir trains in the United States.
