Hi guys,
hope some of you can help me. So i have been looking for a good shoe for easy and long runs, and first tried the Hoka One One Mach 4, which had very good reviews. It is my first kind of new shoe with considerable stack height, and also a rocker.
The first run was a short 4 mile easy run, and i felt the discomfort already. After 2-3 miles, I start feeling like parts of the sole is coming up through my toes, and further into the run, it feels like i am running on two thin edges under my foot. Dont know how to really describe it, but that is close. It gets worse into the run, and looking at the shoe, the discomfort seems to come from just where the outsole has less rubber, so I am actually feeling the outsole throught my foot.
At first I thought those shoes were just wrong and returned them. Maybe they didnt fit or I was too heavy maybe. I traded them in for another shoe with great reviews. This time the Asics Glideride 2, also with a high stack and a rocker (Glidesole).
Same thing happened on the first run. After some time, it first feels like something is sticking up in between my toes, and after a while, like a long sharp edge is coming up into the sole of my foot.
Was really disappointed, as I was looking forward to a comfortable shoe to go for short easy runs as well as longer steady runs.
Anyone experienced this? I have read about Mortons Neuroma, but they all describe it as feeling like running on pebbles, and this actually feels more like a long ridge/edge, and actually coming up through my toes. But maybe that is just a feeling, and not actually happening.
Are my feet just not ready for a high stack height? I have ran long runs in Nike Pegasus 36 before this, and never felt any pain, even on a marathon distance. Can this be solved with breaking the shoes in, getting a new insole, anything?
Thanks for any answers, appreciate it! :D
