Right, DQ our best 800m runner because another women ran to close to her from behind.

10/10 for the Tom Petty references.
This clearly was a violation.
Nia and/or her coach did Mu a kind gesture by not protesting.
“Nia Akins knows how it feels, and that’s exactly what she was doing until Mu came crashing in on her and chopped her stride and sent her Olympic dreams to the mondo.
LR Posters called it weeks ago. She’s inexperienced competing in the 800m at a world-class level and it shows. She didn’t have the space to cut in front of Akins. She hadn’t cleared her.
She’s an amazing talent and fun to watch- but she shouldn’t be going to Tokyo.[/quote]
There are ~a dozen threads gushing over Hocker. Mu runs 1:56 & nobody is excited. That wasn't a DQ. Feel for Nia but calm down OP.
Yes. It seems that women can't handle the merge. What's going on?

I hate to say it but women have some kind of problem with the merge that the men don't. Women's 800 - athlete falls on the merge. Women's 1500 - near fall on the merge. It's like the women feel they have to merge as soon as possible, leading to falls. In the Men's 1500, the guys took nearly the entire backstretch to merge and nobody got clipped or pushed.
Did you look at the video? They took the full straight to merge (at least most of them did)
I watched it a few times. I don't know- Mu DID cut in. It's a close call.

A thing won’t back down to this slander!
LetsRun has never seen a Trials race it didn’t want to ruin with a DQ or six.
Might as well just say you want to see time trials and a committee-selected team.

Why?
Because they are liberal troll that hates free speech.

you have to back off.
This.
There are plenty of idiots who merge onto the highway without looking too. Maybe Mu drives like she runs. That lack of experience will spit her out the back of the pack internationally. Clear violation on her part.
Akins started cutting in like normal then realized the pace was hot and that if she cut in now, she wasn't going to get good positioning. She then tried to come back out to reposition from the outside and when she went lateral, clipped Mu's heels. If Mu would have fell, she would have gotten DQ'd.

The side view after the race at about 3:33 does not look that bad.

Sorry- but if that happens in Tokyo it’s a DQ. It should have 100% been a DQ tonite. She clearly cut her off and impeded her stride sending her to the track. Not even a close call.
No it would not be a DQ in Tokyo; this happens about 50% of the time in 800m races. In fact in indoor 800m races you see athletes fighting for position in the 50 meters. Also, if it was worthy of a DQ someone would have filled one.
Athing would have won by a ton anyway , she did nothing wrong.Akins will learn from this but she would not have made the team anyway so it doesn’t matter 🤦🏾♂️
Not a DQ, Mu was moving in but the other girl started moving back out and that is what caused it.
Speaking of DQ, anything come of Cockrell stepping on the line in the 400h? Gutted for Shamier Little coming in 4th.
Funny how only athletes of African descent are being called out for DQs on these message boardss.
Grow up people. Hate and racism are dead ends.
