That has to be the fastest in US history right?
51.67 1st lap and his last lap was a masterful 51.50.
I imagine that Yuriy Borzakovskiy may have run one faster but am not sure. Anyone?

That was the 11th fastest all-time US 800 time. I can't find the splits for the top 10 though.
Tied for 152nd best 800 all time. Probably somebody in the top 151 negative split?
Has to be the fastest American negative split.
I think Wilson Kipketer neg split 1:42 before.
I started a thread about this in 2017:
https://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=8490949
Johnny Gray's american record 1:42.60 was supposedly a 51.3/51.2 and that probably wasn't even the fastest negative-split 800
I guess if you don't believe Gray's accounting of his own splits, the fastest verified negative-split 800 is Rudisha 1:42.84, with a verified first-lap time of 51.59 making the last lap a ~51.24 (see "intermediate" split):
His third 200m was the fastest of his or anyone else’s race, a ridiculous 24.99, faster than Rudisha split for that segment in his WR (25.02).
WR: 49.28 - 1:14.30 (25.02) - 1:40.91 (26.61)
Murphy OT: 51.67 - 1:16.65 (24.99) - 1:43.17 (26.52)
Crams 1:42.88 may have also been neg split, or dead even.
Was he wearing Nike spikes?
Did Brazier run the slowest positive split in US history? Almost a full 7 seconds slower. 1:54 pace over the last lap, probably over 2:00 for the last 100 meters.
Ooops. I said "positive". That's a sensitive word for these Nike boys and girls.
In 1966 Jim Ryun set a world record 1:44.9 splitting 53.3 to 51.6!!

And we know for sure there was no nandrolone involved, right?
don't know the exact splits for this race, and it is of course a fractionally slower winning time than Murphy's yesterday, but noteworthy at least.
Looks to me as if Cram goes through in about 52 flat and finishes with a 51.2

I remember that race-- Monaco 1997. MASSIVE negative split. Based on the video, about 51.9/52.0 at the bell and 50.7/50.8 for the closer. 1:42.78.
youtube.com/watch?v=y4YabXZ1JmgWhen Murphy slammed the pedal, I was thinking Clayton had to be considering a Brazier stampede.
But once he went, he quickly knew he was alone yet he had gone already and just cruised in.
Congrats. Great win. Wonderful rep. Just anticlimactic for us mortals.
