With a handle like dorkfitter... that is the typo of the year so far.

I feel for Brazier, however I feel even worse for Harris. You just have to root for the guy, 4th place is a hard in this race. Tough.
Absolutely. Afterwords I had to ask my buddy, did Jewett win or Murphy? I was too absorbed simultaneously watching Harris strive and Brazier go backwards.
Is Eliud about to be the only returning male distance event champ from Rio?? Come on Centro
Yeah Harris and Murphy walking together was sad. I have no idea why but everytime Harris is in a race I just have to root for him.
And Centro is going to mop the floor with these guys in the 1500. He gets too much hate and slept just like Murphy being called done. Takes it easy just going for big Q's through heats, takes the W in the final to make the team.
Not trying to be too results oriented here, but yeah the way Brazier talks about running 35 mpw, and how he's never run longer than an hour in his life rubs me the wrong way. Like why not try out new things to be the best you could possibly be? Hopefully this is a wake up call for him and he comes back more mature and better than ever.

Talent only takes you so far. Bragging about long runs of 8 miles might just come back to bite you when the race doesn’t quite go as you planned.
I hardly would say anyone really failed here. It's the most competitive country in the world to make an Olympic team except maybe Kenya or Ethiopia. I wasn't even rooting against him, I was just rooting for the other 3 guys more. A World Championship gold medal is as impressive as an Olympics finals appearance. Be disappointed all you want, but there's a decent chance the three who made it might medal anyway
The 800 is always a wild card event. Some days you have it and other days you don't. Today was a S!tty day for Donavan Brazier. Would have been nice to see him in the olympics. He might have another shot for Paris
DOWN GOES BRAZIER!!!
Facts
Everyone in the field knew Jewett was going to race that way— he’s like vaszquez from PR. So no one should have been shocked.
But Braszier looked out of sorts from the start. Settled in the back of the pack… never seen him do that before outside of that one indoor race where he did it intentionally.
Something was off. Sucks to see, such a fun racer and classy guy

No injury. That was more of a panic attack the last 150. He looked like he was crying down the stretch. Poor guy, you hate to see that for anybody.
You knew he was not at his best when he struggled to beat the Mexican a few weeks ago. Prime Brazier floats away from that guy.
Brazier got hosed by losing the 2020 Olympics. At no point in 2021 did he look like 2019-20 form.
I didn’t like his fishing puff piece where he says he often wants to quit track. If you’re not having fun, quit.
He was not having fun today.
^^^^
If you don’t wanna be a part of the sport you don’t have to be. But if you are gonna run you have to be ALL IN. Otherwise you get a result like today’s. I guarantee that Murphy, Jewett, and Hoppel would never have these doubts about the sport.
I think everyone expected Jewett to come back. 10 meter lead at 400m is usually a death sentence. I fully expected a replay of the Duane Solomon nuclear implosion from 2015 USAs. I hope that was on guts and not nerves. He will get crucified in Tokyo if he goes out on pure adrenaline.
Brazier relied to hard on his final 200m kick and ended up not even having one. With 100 to go he had quit on his face. Jewett probably screwed up the tactics by actually hanging on.
Sowinski runs 50 times per year and never has a bad race.

If you’re the defending world champion and the national record holder, and you fail to make Olympic team, you have absolutely failed.
Flotrack posted a video with Brazier the other day where he talked about having a lot of anxiety going into the trials. As soon as he said that I started having some doubts. This is rough but he's an incredible athlete and I'm confident he'll bounce back stronger.

I think he has had a LOT more success than either you or I. He has not failed as an athlete!
1. Brazier didn't have it, no way he was gonna pop below a 143.5. Didn't he say he had a nagging injury in the spring?
2. Jewett's 350m to 550m kinda messed up Brazier even more. Right after he decided to close the gap, that's when Jewett starting putting more gas on. That messes up your flow.
3. Murphy's kick from 270m out was DEVASATING.
Tbh kudos to Murphy. I thought he was done when he got toasted in some 1500m by B and C listers a few weeks back. 1:43.1 in the heat after rounds, kicking wide... that's legit. Might be an even better effort than his 2016 Rio one.
Wow Brazier not making it is shocking. But how about Murphy - I feel like he is still so underrated and not talked about enough
I prefer black boy summer
Once again, the 800 is THE Heartbreaker distance.
it all showed on Braziers face. he pretty much gave up with 100m to go.
Happy for the ones who advanced but feel bad for Brazier. Armchair dip$hits. Brazier smashed it at the world champs in 2019 and set the WC and AR record so his training was good. Not everyone is a slow ass 64 sec 400m runner.
