Has the 4th fastest non-auto qualifying time. If 6th place in the second heat beats his time he's out. Sitting on the bubble.

He might stay home devastated.
Almost worse publicity for bike than when Zion blew out the side of his shoe
Kendrick with a first miss at 5.75. Lightfoot cleared. Looks like he came to vault today. Wants to prove he belongs in the 6.00 meter club.
Honestly he's a better 5000 runner than steepler anyway at this point but DANG I like him a lot and that sucks.

McGorty almost lost his shoe and looks to be done.
Nike shoe laces go home devastated. I love victories but the ribbon laces are crap and have to be replaced.
Yet another great advertisement for Nike!
Mcgorty had too much burrito grease on his heel
Sorry, Kendricks missed at 5.80
Next heat features the balls out byu guy
BTC steeple people haven't a rough go of it so far.
Nike Dragonfly goes home devastated.
Is it me, or does it look like McGorty have easily pushed harder than that? It never seemed like he was working that hard but he wasn't able to make up as much ground as expected.
Steeple people, did Sean make the right calculus of shoe vs no shoe?
Is the smart move for Ferlic to take his heat out fast and give himself the best chance for no McGorty in the finals?
Lightfoot, Ludwig and Nilsen over at 5.80...just about everyone else except Kendricks is out.

Kendricks is passing his last two attempts at 5.80m
That is just bad luck. Shoe only comes off like that when someone steps on it.

Tough call. Landing a water jump with no shoe is BRUTAL, so to avoid injury he would need the shoe or he would have to chop steps alot, which also leads to bad water jumps.
I would have tried to get it on right away, but would not have kept trying as long as he did.
At first him staying composed and keeping steady was impressive, but then it seemed like he kept thinking he had room to kick then all of a sudden it was the bell lap and he had to gun it down the homestretch. really feel for him to have it be a shoe thing if he doesn't advance. wonder if he had it in him to try to keep going with the shoe half on (or all the way off) if it meant he didn't have to stop.
BYU has new longer shorts!!!
