You spelled one of their names right, well done.

Not impressed pointing at the clock in a semifinal.
Dr. Rick: You won a prelim……no one cares…
The racial undertones on this thread are impressive - even for Letsrun. Stay angry my friends ;-)
This thread has become an embarrassment. Sha'Carri Richardson is one of the fastest female sprinters in history. Who cares if her personality is not one you're comfortable with? To each their own. To paraphrase Sha'Carri herself, the people here making judgments about her really don't know anything about her.
I’m pretty conservative. I just watched the video of the semi final and subsequent interview. She came across charismatic, confident, and respectful. She thanked her support system. Interview was totally fine.
Her grasp of proper English isn't great, if my 4 year old spoke like that he'd be seeing a specialist, but she has personality and even if it is a little abrasive it is good for the sport.

I was laughing what was running through Thomas’s head (Harvard), while she was lined up next to this ding dong.
Thomas, the girl who misses all her drug tests???? I'm sure she's happy Richardson gets all the media attention while Thomas can continue to DOPE and SKIP DRUG TESTS under the radar.
Bolt was no where line her. Cocky yes but good natured. This girl is straight hood. I’ve seen 100s just like her on the corner. It’s actually a credit she got out. But yeah she’s embarrassing.
She’s honestly the track version of cardi B. She acts just like her.
I agree with geezer - prefer her to Felix. She’s authentic, if abit intense… and certainly not boring. Seeing her pure emotion after becoming an Olympian was pretty cool.
Felix is a bit to rehearsed, no emotion. I always get the sense she’s playing to her brand, and her current and future sponsors.
She’s tracks version of Cardi B. She acts just like her.

Her babble was in the past tense.
Javaman is barely literate himself but it’s quite an accomplishment for a hominid. He doesn’t know the difference between nouns and verbs. Plus, he can’t even spell “privilege”, a fairly easy word on a 6th grade spelling bee list.
The only thing that bothered me about Richardson was when NBC analyst reported she brought her "contingent" to the warm up/practice area and "demanded everyone notice her" he said it was loud.
The practice area should only be for athletes.
No.
she drifted but her last stride was in her lane, the next one was her foot landing after the race. Slightly left.
Great young runner. Our new national champion will do well at the Olympics. I want her anchoring our 4x100.
To sum up this thread...
1. Convicted white girl doper who loses appeal and banned from sport = we should believe her because she's truly a nice person.
2. Black girl doesn't impede anyone = we should DQ for her antics and illiteracy.
You can like whomever you want. The races are won by the fastest athletes. They don't give bonus points to runners who are articulate or thoughtful or well-reasoned in their post race interviews.
I watched the race and the interview. Sounded like she had a tough time growing up.
You wouldn't criticize a a person with a high LSAT for not being able to run a mile in less than 8 minutes. Why do so for people in other fields?
I just watched the interview and was expecting something horrendous. Imagine my surprise when she expressed herself very well, high emotions and all. I really don't understand to what the OP was referring.

Unless it's a close race and it's impeding, they don't DQ in a straight line race.
There is no advantage gained.

You can leave your lane on the straightaway as long as it doesn't interfere. I now longer remember the exact wording.
The NCAA Rules Book addresses this directly. Rule 7, Section 5.
"ARTICLE 2. The referee, after consulting with the appropriate officials, shall
disqualify a competitor who:
a. Flagrantly impedes another runner;
b. In a race run on a curve, steps on or over the lane line to the left with two consecutive steps of either both feet or a single foot;
c. Does not start and finish within his or her assigned lane; or
d. In a race starting but not finishing in lanes, does not cross the break line within his or her assigned lane.
Obviously, the NCAA book does not apply here. However, I cannot seem to find it specifically stated in either the USATF or the World Athletics Rules Books. Not sure if this same rule applies or not.
Even if it does, it looks like her last step prior to the finish line was in her lane and her first step after the finish line was in the adjacent lane. Should not be a DQ; however, she could have been flirting with disaster if she stepped into the wrong lane inches from the finish.
