That's legit. I ran 6:28 at USA Junior Olympics as 15-16 year old in Florida back in the day and it was a record. Dang.
it was also her first steeplechase EVER.
I have no idea why this girl isn't at the trials.

She didn't have a qualifying time, it was her first ever steeplechase. I think she will be a future American record holder in the steeplechase, she was born for this event.
because her parents have allowed her to be a hs kid... play basketball, not go crazy focusing on one thing... they let her develope and only do what she is ready to handle... didn't chase all hs glory at all cost...
She quietly had a solid spring track season 440/1005, I agree she will be very good at unc. Not trials worthy, though, maybe 2024. I follow NCAA women's hoops, and I was amazed how good she was. Fully ambidextrous guard who could drive to the hoop, pass, and shoot for 3. Not a national star, but good enough to play for unc, or any team below them in acc.
this is CRAZY, she broke the record in her first ever steeplechase? This is unprecedented. The previous record holder had been running it since middle school.
I hope there's a video.
She was extremely good at basketball, I agree she could have played at UNC.

Wow....I can only guess, but her superb fitness must really wear down defenses. She is on her toes while everyone else is flat-footed.
In this interview she says the first time she ever jumped over a steeple barrier was two days before the meet. She is now signed up for the steeple at the NSAF/Nike meet at Hayward Field.

It gets better:
"I honestly hadnt trained for it. The first time I ever jumped over a steeple barrier was two days before the race."
🤯
I believe thats what you call "A Natural". Reminds me of her world record basketball mile she set on a whim without any practice either. And begs the question just how fast can she go with actual training?

damn cross post... Guess you type faster than me. So lame you cant delete your posts here.
