I bet lululemon feel like absolute clowns after giving her a massive contract. I wonder if they had any idea she was injured and wouldn't even compete. I mean she is 28 what are the chances she will be able to come back from the injury and still be top 3 in America at 31/32 years of age?
I bet Lulu has a huge market of highschool girls who never would've looked twice at their stuff that are now buying it to run in regardless of whether Colleen is in the Trials. I think they knew exactly what they were getting, which is moving from athleisure moms to highschool girls.
I’m guessing you aren’t around high school girls much? The ones I see already buy what they can of that stuff. Many of those don’t know who CG is.
Holy sh—, man….
If she's almost 30 and times are slowing down anyway, why not get out of the sport. It's a niche sport anyway, and the future might be uncertain. She probably needs to pursue other things to pay rent and buy food. Running isn't known to do that, Olympian or not.

She clearly knew she wasn't going to run when she posted that post about how she was going make her second Olympic team in two weeks.
If she had zero intention of running at that time, then she didn't risk delivering on that promise. And brings attention to her
I dunno, I used to like following her because she was actually up front about her injury struggles (with the pool, etc). But then she became super secretive and crappy about it. Like pulling out of Doha the day before, taking the spot from someone else who could have run.
Don't worry about Colleen , weirdo.
Good take
Ofc she doesn’t owe me a thing. Just said I’m not interesting to follow a #sponsored account that is barely about running anymore. But she seems to go down the lifestyle rabbit hole anyhow. Good for her but I’m here for the running. And sharing some of it whether it’s good or bad would be quite nice.

Clearly you are entitled to be owed that by complete strangers.

What bothers me the most with her is how her insta has just become an ad space that is always her smiling and beaming and happy. Not that that is wrong. But she shares zero reality of being a runner. Literally why did she not once share her recent struggles? Not even mention them?
This is so fake and I’d much rather follow someone who is genuine.
Watch the video of her doing hurdles in quick succession — her left leg is all messed up from the hip down to the ankle. It doesn’t track straight and lands improperly as well.
She had a bit of a funky cadence earlier in her career and that seems to have developed into a weird hitch.
I don’t wish injury or mental health issues on anyone, but I would have liked to see her lose to Falland at the trials.
She simply wants attention, affirmation, and people feeling sorry for her because that's missing in her life. So she like many others go to social to fill a hole.
A little ironic that Letsrun's resident incel posted this.

+1
It's a shame social media has become overly represented by phony merchandising, elevated narcissistic productions, voyeuristic exercises in self promotion, and outlets for approval seeking indulgences.
Well ... the only reason why we're probably so interested in her is because of her social media. So her social media strategy works.
It was so obvious she would never line up, but I guess back when she left BTC / Nike she hadn't really thought about outright retiring, which probably is the most realistic option for her when it comes to running. But instead, get Lulu first and then pretend to run and then retire?

I would assume most people here are interested in her because of the number of US teams she has made.
That, and she’s hot.
I remember when she was doing some ad and claimed she was using a stunt double to hurdle barriers for her so she could save her legs for training. That’s when it became very obvious to me that she was hiding an injury.
She’s not with BTC anymore and she never said she was injured. A little mental and emotional break down it looks to me.

She was very very vague with what type of injury..
She didn’t even say it was an injury. She said it was a “problem with my body.”
it hasn't appeared like running is her passion for a long time, and certainly during this year. She switched coaches, really upped the social media posting.
What's sad is that I think Colleen is insanely talented as an athlete. But she really wants to pursue that model side of her.
I feel like with new steeplers up and coming, she should try her luck in the 1500, an event which I think she could be globally competitive in. But now it just looks like she doesn't have the passion to work towards that. It's been an interesting six months to see her transformations, which have steadily moved away from running as a passion. I think we'll see her moving away from running entirely, which I have to say is really really sad.
Connect the dots. It’s an injury and she doesn’t want to say what it is or how bad. $$$ on the line.
I just watched her insta video. And oh my the vagueness?? Why could she never share her struggles the last few months? She could be the poster child of toxic positivity. Everything the last months on her insta is picture perfect happiness. How about some reality and being a little genuine?
And just 5 short days ago she posted from a track workout where she did fast 400s. How come she can run hard a few days ago and now can't even compete. All a load of BS if you ask me. My bet is that she had a mental breakdown rather than a physical one. She has had always a lot of injuries but managed them well enough to compete. But I think she was terrified to not qualify and that caused her huge anguish.
The stark contrast between her insta and her reality is almost comical.
