I found the video of the race. He doesn't look majorly injured. Leads up until the bell and then gets beaten at the end .
https://youtu.be/1vCRiklCuRI?t=3830Unless he asked to be left off the team or something, this might be one of the dumbest decisions by a federation ever.
Did you read Renato's post? Have you ever had an injury that didn't allow you to perform to your best abilities?
Sometimes you disappoint, Robert.
Maybe he's just referring to the decision to leave him off the team in favor of Kipsang? If he can still finish 4th then it would appear not to be a major injury, and Tokyo is still 6 weeks away.

Amd Renato, you're the same guy that said Kenyans don't dope. Then you changed your story several times as they kept getting busted. You changed it to top Kenyans don't dope and it doesn't benefit them. Then you bit your tongue as they got busted. You're probably profiting off of doping runners and that's why you deny doping as a doping apologist. You know damn well the substantial benefits physically and financially of doping. Your act is pathetic.
Your lies are pathetic, and so are you.
It's all true buddy. Go back to watching fake news.
It’s a stacked field in Kenya. If you don’t have your A game you get bounced. The third-placer recently ran 3:32.6 FTW in France. The road did get easier for Jakob and the Brits and Americans though. Even though I suspect all 3 Kenyans here will be in 3:30 shape for the Olympics that’s much more beatable than healthy Tim who can run 3:27-8.
Wightman outkicked both Kipsang and Simotwo very convincingly less than 2 weeks ago in Hengelo.
Of course, maybe Tim will now dontate some of his potato crop to the pair now that he doesn't need to be on his diet.

Doping insinuations with no rationale? Cool.
Wightman did outrun them then no doubt but they just ran 3:33 at 5,000 feet. I think the fitness is on the upswing. I would underestimate these Kenyan 800-1500 squads at your own peril
This changes a lot for Tokyo. Jakob, Kerr, Lewandowski, Weightman, even Centro if his fitness continues to whip up nice as it has been are all medal and GOLD medal contenders. Kipruto we already knew about considering he got charged for underage sex with a 15 year old for whoever posted about him for the steeple. That race has changed now too.
And no Wale in the Steeple. El Bakkali should dominate. The Kenyans are OK but can any run under 8:05? Unclear. I like Kigens kick if he stays close.
Multiple CoeEvett disguised versions?
The glory of Brit...
although a lot have a good spirit, some here are real psychopaths.
Devastating news. He’s been the best 1500 runner for years now (and still is) and for him to miss Tokyo because of a injury is just extremely sad for any T&F fan. He has the endurance and the kick and was the favourite in Tokyo in any scenario. He’s been good enough for Olympic gold and maybe even WR, now he might never get either. Very sad for him.
Never seen a race where Cheruiyot sat in the pack like that. Frankly, he didn't look so good, injury or not. Some Kenyans don't run well at altitude but Cheruiyot has made national teams before so I don't think it's that.
Nah he runs well at altitude. He must’ve had a setback since his 330 in Doha, he was not as confident/strong today. He had a hamstring injury at the end of last year and it must’ve flared up again.

Yeah defo. We haven't seen him run bad for years, so the hamstring problem makes sense. Gutted for him though, it makes the olympics a big ''what if''.

If I’m Josh Kerr I’m now trying to run away with it from the start. 3:30 gets him a silver or bronze in this field.
Sit and wait until 250-300m to go and there are just too many dangerous kickers out there.
Wonder how Jakob will run. Would love to see him solo a 3:28. Doubt he would do that though.
Are you crazy? Kerr whould absolutely not try to be the rabbit for the rest of the field. It may not be a time trial now and if it is - make Jakob set it. Kerr is not tha tmuch better than the field that he wants to try to pull a Rudisha and outrun them from the front.
If this stands, this is mixed news for Jakob. With Timothy in the field, he's only got to beat 1 guy - admittedly a guy he's never beaten. But hey we knew how the race would go and his fitness h as improved. Now his main rival is gone but the onus is on him to set the pace if he wants it fast. Also we have no idea how the race goes.
Cole Hocker's gold medal odds just went way way up. Of course i guess everyone's gold medal odds went way way up.

You are correct.
Admittedly, I've not talked to anyone, but it appears to me hes not that injured. He just ran and finished 4th in the 1500. UNLESS HE SPECIFICALLY ASKED NOT TO BE PUT ON THE TEAM, WHICH SEEMS CRAZY TWO MONTHS OUT, THEN I'D PUT HIM ON THE TEAM at #3.
Put whoever is #3 as the alternate. If tim trains for a month and isn't feeling better, then you pull him.
This really has to be one of the most foolish decisions I've ever seen in the sport. Tim C deserves EVERY benefit of the doubt. So again, unless he specifically said, "I can't do it." then you put him at #3. And see how he's feeling in a month. Hell make him do a 1200 time trial before leaving.
Jakob better hope Filip makes the final and is kind enough to rabbit him

Three if you include George Manangoi, who suspiciously ran away to join the army as soon as his brother was busted.
Where did he come today, btw? Who would have thought a year or two ago that Team Rongei would have zero representatives in Tokyo?
All Coevett knows is lies. Every day same story.
Respectfully disagree. Centro can’t run 331. Lewandowski is likely no longer capable of it. Hocker isn’t there yet. But in a 3:34 race all can potentially close faster than Kerr. Meanwhile, Kerr has shown he can solo that 331. Yes, he’ll give Jakob an easy win in this scenario. But nothing wrong with a silver.

+1 Indeed: Beware the underdog, especially from East Africa. East Africa ia a gold mine for middle distance and distance running talent. And at sea level those efforts would have surely resulted in faster times.

Isn't Kipyegon Kenyan? so why she never dropped her level?
Should his rational apply to Managoi and not apply to Kipyegon.
Recall to him that Cheruiyot is dominating for more than 4 years. Here is a good image of it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_pyyRW9MvFAAlso the theory of doping runner getting "inconstant" performances fall to apply to that runner who won 83 races out of 86 races in 8 years.
