attending for my second olympic trial. I was here in 08. For this trial I got two sets of tickets for about $1600. Got a 10 day parking spot for my RV $430. Seems like a super deal to me. I would rather be here then go to a super bowl. Did I mention I just saw a world record performance.
In 08 I suffered on wood bench plank with painted seat numbers very close together. Very little leg room, sitting in the hot sun. I could not understand what the announcer was saying on the PA system.
Today I am sitting in nearly the same spot as 08, front row about 60 meters to the finish line. The seat is in the shade when the first races start @ 4:00pm, wide padded chair with arm rests and leg room. The PA system is amazing, I can understand every word, even with a fair amount of hearing loss in the last 13 years. Every mark and every split comes up on my phone instantly.
Only draw back this time, I needed to load 7 apps on my and my wife's phones to pull this off. 2 Ea for ticket handling, 2 ea for Go Duck, 2 ea for Clear, and one for food ordering. In 08 I only needed to hang on to my paper ticket, and bring money.
Yes the attendance is way down from 08 as well as from the prefontaine classic's I have attended. I believe this is because of the last minute nature, most people could not make plans that quickly. I think everyone did their best to pull this off under the pandemic problems. I like the format of this event, hope they maintain it. I love the new stadium. I hope to be back for worlds next year, and the trials in 2024.
