Not really. If you watch the clip of the last lap you will see Beatrice decided to ease of. She clearly had plenty left in the tank but there was no need to push hard in the end because both Kiyeng and Chepkoech had a huge gap between them and the chasers. The automatic selection was for first two to cross the line.
As for the entire trials, It is indeed clear that the more expirienced, seasoned athletes did better than new comers. Many of them seem to have timed their peaking right. For me the athlete to watch going forward towards Olympics is Kwemoi. He was only second behind Kamworor today but if you watch the race carefully you will also notice he injected the pace that did damage in the middle of the race then looked back several times and decided to ease of once he noticed he would get automatic qualification. Also he was based in Japan for several years. Perhaps Tokyo will suit him.
Beatrice was so exhausted she had to get medical attention. The NTV stream showed this. Hopefully she's OK and bounces back. Who got the third spot?
Also.. is that Kimeli in the Auburn jersey? If so, that's impressive. After a long season, she ran 2 NCAA steeples, travelled to Kenya and had two more steeples all within one week. That's toughness.
