I am a freshman going to be a sophomore this fall and I just started really running 3 weeks ago for track. I used to be a sprinter, but that didn’t work out for me. Anyways next year I am doing cross country, and I really want to make varsity, but only the top 5 make varsity.
I run a 6:40 mile, a 3:10 800, and a 1:22 400, and I’m not very fast to begin with. I really want to get faster, and good miles over the summer, but whenever I run my legs start to hurt really bad, especially my left leg, which I can barely walk on right now. My goal for this summer is to get faster, so I can run a 20:00 minute 5k, but I can’t even run because my legs hurt so bad. How do I get my times up, and how do I help stop my legs from hurting this bad when I run, so I can get my times up for cross county?
