I would like to see Galen win for old times with Alberto in the stands tearing up as his prodigy defeats his archrival NIKE team.
I would like to see Galen win for old times with Alberto in the stands tearing up as his prodigy defeats his archrival NIKE team.
Bold prediction: No BTC guys make it. I have good reasons for this.
The team not in any specific order:
Ben True - he's the toughest guy in the field. Someone who can go well above his fitness level indicates at the big stage. He's hungry and desperate. Don't underestimate an old dog that's cornered.
Emmanuel Bor - one of the US Army Kenyans gets in. I think they'll work together. He's got the best shot.
Galen Rupp - I am not betting against Rupp in Hayward field. Despite his most recent result, I don't think he would line up to get embarrassed here. This kid has done nothin but deliver in the big stage.
Notes:
I will say this about the field: it will be a surging race with constant ups and downs. I believe this is the toughest way to run a race. In this scenario the guys above will prevail because they've been in that situation dozens of times against the best of the best.
Will Galen get the standard? With the super spikes/shoes, I will say yes.

Fisher, Klecker and Jenkins are my picks. I will probably regret snubbing Lopez, but I'm wary of where he is fitness-wise.
Same: Fisher, Klecker, Jenkins.
A week ago I might have gone with the BTC sweep, but recent events tip the scales toward predicting an overall disappointing showing for their team.
27:26 winning time, most likely Fisher.
Rupp 11th in 27:51.
Thats the one! Fisher, Klecker, Jenkins in that order. Klecker pushes away and separates. Fisher outkicks him. Jenkins outkicks the rest for the 3rd spot. Others wilt in the heat or drop to preserve a double so Rupp gets top 8.
Rojo, so you have any stats from the pick em contest? favorites based on picks?

No chance anyone sees the podium in Tokyo.
I mean, obviously.
Nobody will even be in the Top 6 (which is the best anyone has done aside from Rupp in 2012, as well as I can remember).
He literally got 5th in 2016….

yes, birdbeard is another uninformed hobby jogger. forgot about Rio, eh?
I say Ben True, Lopez Lomong and Emmanual Bor I will root for Rupp Though, Rupp has already said he will only run the Marathon in the Olympics, So if he is in the top 3 then 4th place will go to the Olympics.
Excited about this race so we can put Burrito-gate behind us! Wouldn't it be fun if Rupp was hanging in there? Should he take it out strong from the beginning to use his marathon strength?
I am rooting for Rupp too even if it is for him just to have a really good workout (ie, get standard but not make the team) . He did not taper for Portland 3 weeks ago and it will be interesting to see if he looks rested tonight.
