For BTC's side of events to be true, it must be true that 1) The truck served pig with the substance, 2) they screwed up her order, 3) she ate there, and 4) WADA tested her after eating there. It seems highly unlikely (like less than 1% ) that all four events would happen, and that they would happen on the same day. Not to mention, if one wants to criticize WADA's past, it seems only appropriate to criticize Nike's prior misgivings.

You guys skimmed over the Lawson test result of .65 ng/mL while Shelby was rocking a 5ng/mL. She's a doper. Wouldn't surprise me if Shalane doped as well since she's sticking up for her.

Interesting... at the moment I am inclined to believe the first scenario but the second scenario also sounds believable.

I know they already tried to appeal it and their attempt was rejected but assuming scenario #2 is true, what would the process look like for Shelby and her legal team? Can they (her lawyers/nike) sue CAS/AIU and get the ban overturned?

I’m curious how everyone remembers the burrito was really greasy? Not sure if remember what I ate a few months ago. But overall if it was at a unique enough place like a training trip yes. Weird thing is I just ate pork tacos and was debating between them and carne asada. They really were greasy.

Sue a food truck....LMAO. Sure that will be a lucrative endeavor. Best case scenario is you get a paltry judgement, the poor schlub can't pay, and no lawyer reps you on contingency in a case where the defendant is a food truck, so pay your lawyer too.

I once served on the jury of a murder case. Attorneys are very convincing..

Every time the prosecutors gave their statement and examined a witness I was pushed towards guilty...But every time the defense would cross-examine and give their statements I would swing over to Not Guilty.

In the end when we saw ALL of the evidence and considered both sides or the argument he was Guilty by a mile and we convicted within an hour and change.

Come on, this makes her story even more preposterous. The studies her lawyer dug up were already borderline implausible (eating 12 oz of pig organs), and now it comes out that she didn't even eat pork. So the studies aren't even a valid comparison, as we're talking cross-contamination vs. chowing down on liver.

They are claiming she ORDERED carne asada but ATE pork. Not that hard to understand.

What sucks is every athlete and technology affiliated with this company just has a certain amount of taint to it in my humble opinion. Sure, there is always reasonable doubt, and we can not penalize suspicion without due process. But between all of the questionable gray zone bull$hit and the gimmicky shoes which have demonstrably made a difference in performance for even high school athletes, distance running and track has become unwatchable. You could argue that "everyone else is doing it too or using the same technology," but it just takes the purity out of something once so pure. The state records where I now live, from 800 to 1600 to 3200, have all coincidentally fallen this year. We are talking about one record that has stood for 41 years and was just absolutely smashed twice in one week by two different athletes in a deep distance running state. We are talking about a two second improvement in the 800, not a 0.2 second improvement.

It makes me sad. But it makes me even sadder that society, in my eyes, has absolutely become about judging people by the color of their skin, not the content of their character, about shifting to equality of outcomes rather than equality of opportunity, another bull$hit message being subsidized and promoted out of Oregon.

She's a professional runner. Of course she probably has all her food documented, plus receipts are easy to keep. That's not the part of her story that is unbelievable in the slightest.

There have been studies showing that eating a few 100g of wild (i.e. non-castrated) boar offal can cause levels close to 5 ng/mL.

The fact that the AIU has conceded that the nandrolone could not have been injected is a big flag for me. Who takes oral anabolic steroids? They don't work at all.

Something doesn't add up. I'm more on Shelby's side than I was last night.

Correct. And look how slippery Sheby and Jerry were yesterday. They deliberately tried to create the misimpression that Selby had eaten a pork burrito.

not hard to understand. Kind of hard to believe though. They're not saying, "Oh they gave me the wrong burrito and I noticed it was pork but just ate it anyways", they're saying "I ordered steak and assumed thats what it was until a month later I thought back about it and remembered it was kind of greasy so maybe it was actually the kind of meat that might conveniently explain my positive test"

Keep in mind it's not just ordered carne asada and got pork, but got the "uncastrated male pig guts" pork instead of carne asada. And that it was enough to take her up to 5ng/ml (if the data presented in this thread is correct). The other fellow was 7.7 times lower than her reading.
