Yes, jack is staying on the help the farm team till at least January
If Jack Daniels is so respected among the running community, then why was he coaching at SUNY Cortland in the first place?
...when asked to explain the less than auspicious environment da Vinci was born into the author can only say, "Genius often seems to spring up in a miraculous way, without regard to circumstances."
Wow...you might want to reconsider that statement...The "brand name" of a school has very little to do with the quality of the coaches...(i.e. there are plenty of mediocre coaches at "big time" schools)
I also remember coach Daniels having some pretty good success at Texas back in the day...
from what i recall didn't suny cortland win countless ncaa titles under coach daniels? also who is to say he ever wanted to go anywhere else. there is such a thing as quality of life and maybe he liked just where he was. moving up may not always moving to something better.
His wife is recovering from breast cancer and that is why he is staying until january. Heis one of the nicest guys I've met adn wish him well. He has been coaching the distance women runners on the farm team and they seem to be haveing some great success. He is also coaching the marathoner's for their fall performances. I think they are going to do great as well...
I know some people on this board don't like the guy but I don't understand why. He has always been willing to talk and help anyone who asks. I wish he and his family well.
Most of the lack of respect he gets on this board probably stems from his audacity in writing a book on training that is more than four pages long and then charging more than $0.00 for it. (Of course, that quote on the back cover from RW calling him "The World's Greatest Coach" doesn't help, but I'd put that one on his publisher)
A guy last week gave me a copy of Daniels\' book, and in the cover Jack had signed it to me with a nice little note. I thought that was pretty cool!
Wasn't he also a professor of physiology, or something like that?
