Previous Best 1:45.71, Before this Year it was 1:46.84
UK 800/1500 depth is just unreal, and a scary amount were born in the 2000s or just before
I don't know for sure, but I'd think that has to be a record for biggest PB for someone at that level (1.89 seconds).
He was European junior champion two years ago so not exactly unknown.
What about Raisin? wrote:

Nijel Amos went from 1:46.2 to 1:43.1 in the lead up to London 2012. Coe went from 1:43.9 to 1:42.3 WR. Not saying this isn't a huge leap forward for Dustin, but for a super talented 20 year old who has been running occasional BMC meets for the last couple of years, and paces himself intelligently when thr rest of a high class field have gone off at WR pace, it's hardly inexplicable that he smashes his pb.
nijel was 18
He's not unknown?? Everyone on the uk athletics scene knows who Dustin is, probably a good amount in Europe too considering he was the winner of the Euro u20s in 2019 as part of the british 1-2-3. And was in athletics weekly etc.

On letsrun, all factual claims can be corroborated by first person anecdotal experience. So if OP hadn’t heard of him, then he’s unknown.
He's been overshadowed by Max Burgin (until now). I think more people here would have been talking about him otherwise. Even when he won the Euro U20's people were saying it was only because Max was injured. But every half-serious athletics fan in GB knows who he is.
Well, that 2019 U20 European Champs race is really producing the goods. Dustin won the race. Ben Pattison, who last night murdered Kyle Langford, was second and the third place finisher, Finlay Mclear is showing good form in the States. And, of course, Burgen was missing, injured, from the 2019 race. It would be amazing if these youngsters kept Elliot Giles out of the team when only recently people were saying that he, Elliot, was in with a chance of an Olympic medal.
More likely he is "unknown" in the US but definitely been on the radar in the UK and Europe.

I guess I should know everyone in the World who has run 1:46.84 or faster coming into this year, He did Run 1:45.71 a couple of weeks ago though, Probably not just me though, if you go to the local store and ask the first 100 or even 1000 entering who is Oliver Dustin even after his 1:43.82 performance probably ZERO would know who he was, even if you went to the NCAA meet and ask 1000 random athletes or fans who Oliver Dustin is, most would not know who he is, he is unknown to all but the most hardcore fans and even then The ones in Great Britain, but unknown or not it was an excellent time especially for a 20 year old and he is an excellent prospect.
that is because you are a typical American-centric tool who thinks the world doesn't exist outside the Ncaa and America. Shame on you, as you come across as a "know-it-all". Obviously you aren't.
Kyle Langford was slain? OMG?!
Seriously though, the photo from the article is fantastic, great to see a ‘Border Harriers’ vest getting a world lead, great example of this sport at its best
Very suspicious improvement. Anybody know if he is in the brit government sponsored PED program? Or is it mandatory for all brits to be in the brit government sponsored PED program?

I know who he is now, His best Time before this Year was 1:46.84, In the USA we get 15 to 20 Men every Year at 1:46.84 so that time is a dime a dozen, 1:43.82 gets my attention, good young prospect
Is the UK the new rift valley?
Good to see Tual do great too. French have two strong young prospects now too.
Incredible drop this year. Just to quantify the question of how well he was known, there are about 7 or 8 posts ever mentioning his name in a search on Letsrun prior to the 1:43.

Found the doping apologist.
