With all due respect Malmo, you are incorrect. The fastest I can find is Bekele 53.4 to run 27:01 in 2008 for the Olympic record. In 2004, he ran 53.0 to run 27:05. He probably could've run 52 something in that both of those race as he cruised with the win secured. Then again that might be the most in-shape 10K athlete of all time at the peak of his powers. And those were races some 12-16 seconds slower.
