Surely Ryun wins every time? What he ran on a cinder track with the shoe technology and what was known about training and racing back in the 60's is ridiculous compared to even the Webb era let alone Kessler today.
Don't get me wrong, Webb in high school and Kessler now are amazing athletes and at the top of the talent pool for their age as runners. But surely what Ryun was doing over 50 freaking years ago is at least as good if not significantly better?
Although having said that it is always fun to debate who are the best athletes/players across eras in sports and I enjoy hearing others opinions!
Personally I think modern athletes/sports people benefit a lot from so many advances in the last 20 years (both from scientific knowledge, improved training, technology and diet, greater professionalism and money to be made, and more opportunities amongst other things).
These things don't make me think any less of them, I just think it makes it nearly impossible to compare athletes between eras.
