This is one of the stupidest decisions I have ever seen.

Blocks should be allowed, the time they take getting setup is way too long, put them on a clock and enforce it
Why??? 😂
If you are concerned about the wear and tear that blocks cause on the track, you probably shouldn't be hosting a track meet. Use of blocks is part of a track meet. If you don't want blocks to be used on your track, you don't really want to host a track meet. Don't change the rules just because you're cheap.
And how many heats are they running that the setup time for blocks is even an issue? This is a championship meet with limited qualifiers, right?

Stop making sense.
As to not allowing blocks, it sounds like a hobby jogger or a Karen thought up this dumb idea.
I assume this is Covid related right? They don't want the person to be nearby holding the blocks?

It was a pre-covid decision according the head of the NJSIAA:
"In the postseason meeting after the 2019 season it was decided that blocks wouldn't be permitted at the sectionals and that was put into the Regulations. The host schools cited damage to their track and the amount of time to get kids in and out of the blocks. I understand that coaches are upset, but I can only go by what's in the Regulations and it's still a level playing field at each site. Coaches are welcome to bring up this issue at our end of the season meeting and we will examine it.''
So apparently everyone should have known about this since June/July 2019 but has only been complained about now.
6 medals???
Top 6 from the sectional qualify for the state group meet, so top 6 medal

You nailed it. 100% correct.
I would add that I would be perfectly fine with a time limit for blocks.
Up next....
Football players can't wear cleats because it will tear up the grass...
Basketball players must play in socks because shoes tear up the court...

I am hearing the decision was based on the lack of ability for ALL schools to have quality blocks, or the same set of blocks, etc.
Poor decision regardless.

That doesn't make sense since blocks are allowed the next week at the groups meets You would have the same potential inequity problem.
This is one of the schools complaining about their track getting damaged. As others stated, why OFFER to host a large meet if that is a concern?
I guarantee it was someone on the school board who's child plays La Crosse.
School boards make some really silly decisions when it comes to sports.
Then the host school should have blocks and everyone has to use them.
We had a States in NY YEARS ago- the host school said 1/8" spikes only. Before the meet started we were using 1/4"
I asked one of my friends about it and he said the host school would have blocks, so maybe that's what is happening

Heh, Heh, Ho, Ho; Block Equity Is The Way To Go!
I believe the 6 medals??? refers to the year the NJSIAA only gave out medals to the top 3 (or 5) at the sectional level, instead of the top 6 that was stated in the regulations. It's was really a jab at the comments the state made saying that no blocks is in the regulations and has to be enforced, basically picking and choosing which regulations they will stick to.
It's stupid, but not worth complaining about as all are subject to the same restrictionThere is no competitive advantage gained by any person.
