Are there trail / gravel supershoes? None of the road supershoes seems like they'd hold up on gravel.
yes, controversial

Terrain is too varied. Your best bet is to get a light, but not minimal trail shoe that fits well if you're thinking of racing on trails.

Don't expect the same performance gains as in road carbon-plated shoes.
https://www.thenorthface.com/shop/mens-flight-vectiv-nf0a4t3l?variationId=LA9The Adidas Speed Ultra 240 are good new trail race shoe. I did a 50K in them recently. Laces suck though (mine came undone after a couple of K's). I think they are more like the Boston than any super shoe though. I'm not keen on trying the high stack carbon plated trail shoes. They look like a sprained ankle waiting to happen.
Gravel or hard packed trail though you can get away with whatever you want. I run on a buff dirt track in vaporflys no problem. Probably better for durability than road. I get over 600k's out of them...
There is no carbon plate. It is a cool shoe, but more like an “endorphin shift trail”.
I’d think Hoka will get carbon into a trail shoe fairly soon, though they need to improve their foam and weight.
This is the closest I’ve seen: https://www.craftsportswear.com/global/ctm-ultra-carbon
Saucony Endorphin PRO. I have worn them on gravel trails, buffed out dirt trails, and on some rocky, rooty trails. I retired them to trail tempo shoes now. They are great on crushed gravel. Worn them for several 50k gravel races. I will be wearing them for a trail marathon later on this year.
Problem is that a high stack height is going to be unstable, perhaps lead to more rolled ankles, and affect the feel you need when running on a trail. Perhaps some of the technology can be adapted for the trail and maybe they will be more effective on dry and harder trails, but there probably isn't a one-size-fits-all trail super shoe solution that will work in all situations.
These look promising:
