Hi,
Has anyone ran in the NB fuelcell rebel 2, what are your thoughts? Did you find it unstable at the heel? Okay or not okay for heel to midfoot strikers. Some reviews suggest its a daily trainer others a fast day shoe? Versatility. Thanks.

I loved them. I have somewhat narrow feet, so the heel slips abit but depends on how you tie them. They are just incredibly light for the amount of cushion so I used them from 5k pace to long runs. The geometry of the shoe felt very nice at faster paces. Although the foam squishes lots when you use your fingers, it really firms up underfoot when you are running faster, or feels softer at slower paces. I do a full contact landing, certainly not a severe heelstrike. Its lots softer under the heel so if you do heelstrike badly then it could be unstable. I liked the lateral flare which I land on as I overpronate, it absorbs the shock nicely and keeps me rolling. For that reason its probably made for more midfoot strikes, certainly not severe heelstrikers. I loved the midsole anyway, you gotta try it.
I'm a casual runner and picked up the Rebel v2 and love it. It's incredibly versatile and responsive enough for faster shorter races but comfortable and soft enough to protect your feet through a longer run. It's true that the shoe is a bit unstable and is better for forefoot/ midfoot strikers. It helps to have strong ankles with this shoe. I would say that even though this shoe is soft enough for longer runs, the slight instability would lead me to choose a different shoe for long runs and use the Rebel v2 for tempo/ fatlek/ speedwork. It can function fine as a daily trainer but I find myself grabbing a traditional mid cushion daily trainer ride/ghost/pegasus/clifton for my easy runs. It is truly a very versatile shoe but realistically unless it's your only pair of shoes, you might find yourself reserving these as a super fun shoe for speedwork and races.
