Still taking it easy, ran about 32 miles for the week, only workout: 5 by k on 400 jog-walk recovery, averaged 3:28.6/k (probably a cple of seconds faster than that, lots of traffic on the track), ~3:30 recovery.
Unexpectedly managed to register for a 5000 on June 12th.
Question: What do you guys suggest I run between now and then?
Context: I'm more or less recovered from longer mileage of weeks past, but legs are still a touch tired. Heat made an appearance out of nowhere, though it's just turned to rain since last night was has cooled things down for now. Yesterday was track workout day, coach gave us 10 by 200, diagonal walk-back-to-start recovery. Would have ran more volume in normal time, but in 85F, I just stuck with that (averaged 36 running conservatively, pushed it down to 30-low on one repetition, which is not terrible for me).
I'm thinking of keeping lower mileage (30-35 this week and next), most days easy w/ cple of strides. One workout: Easy going 4 by 800 at target pace on tons of recovery on Wednesday, may throw in a cple of brisk but not all out 200's, if I feel good.
Goal: Temperature allowing, I'll likely aim to go out in 3:30/k on the day, and adjust from there depending how I feel (ran in 3:36/k late december, gps measured so take with grain of salt).
Suggestions super welcome. I'm the king of showing up tired, sluggish and flat, so outside perspective is appreciated.
