The regulations for track shoe thickness are <25mm (for 800m+) and <20mm (for 100m-400m). The forefoot measure is taken at 75% of the distance from the heel to the front of the shoe.
Taking the Dragonfly and the SD-X as examples, they are legal shoes because the thickness at 75% of the shoe length is under the permitted maximum thickness. However, the soles are clearly thickest around 50% of the shoe length.
I would be interested to know the sole thickness of these shoes at the thickest part of the midsole and how close they are to 25mm and 20mm respectively. I could not find the information on the runningwarehouse page: e.g.
https://www.runningwarehouse.com/Nike_ZoomX_Dragonfly_Unisex_Spikes/descpage-NZMZD03.html
I appreciate this information is irrelevant regarding the legal status of the shoes but it would be interesting to know nonetheless.
