Pull anyone lapped in a 10000 from now on.
Well, I kinda agree, but with a last lap here of 63, and a victory margin of 65, that means she lapped EVERYONE ELSE in this race.
Maybe the 5000 and 10000 should be on a prolonged 1000 meter track - I'm sure stadiums could be built like that shoule someone want to.

Isn't you that was hating at Hassan yesterday?
I recall that Hassan is still the owner of the historic double 1500m/5000m.
And it's not sure for Gidey to win in the OG.
Hassan still destroys Gidey in Tokyo. Hassan has the close no one else possesses.

And I could see them both losing to Tsegay in the 5,000. It's a wildly talented group right now.
Gidey has never won a race with strong competition, i.e. DL, WC etc. Despite 14:20ish times, there was always at least one better in the big races.
I wonder if there ever was a WR holder in both 5k and 10k (with outlandish marks) who never won a big meeting before.
And the lapping situation might be even worse in Tokyo - I can easily see a tight battle with several runners competing two or three lines deep for bronze but taking place 380 meters behind the leaders (Gidet and Sifan) as they enter the last lap. Chaos will then ensue...
As I predicted Ethiopia is progressively wiping Kenya from middle and long distances.
You have this logic:
Kenya: 52 millions population
Ethiopia: 112 millions population

The truth is that 25 years from now when drug fueled women are bouncing to 13:45 and 28:20 you may not feel that so much about this group.
On another thread someone ask who is best under 20 right now. My answer was some African you never heard of. That answer applies to any age.
Well today, just the E’s produced a bunch of contenders you never heard of.
The K’s are up to bat,

13:45/28:20 might happen within 5-8 years.
Ron Clarke, David Bedford ....two great athletes lacking the ability to change pace when it mattered

Well it makes sense especially at 5-10,000. Barega was training hard at age 16-17 and becoming a 12:4x 5,000 talent as a teenager. Meanwhile in the US, our most talented junior Hobbs Kessler is rock-climbing and running semi-seriously until age 17 and then running 3:34 within a year. Cole Hocker is barely training in HS and now once he gets under real training he's showing huge talent. We can probably close the gap quicker in the 1500, but before our top talents break out at 5,000+ their training pales crazily in comparison to Ethiopians and Kenyans who've trained hard at the junior level. So you have got to imagine they'll need a couple of years to get there. Not to mention the altitude training etc.

We'll see, I imagine everyone thought the same about the men in the mid-90s and then the events stagnated for 20 years. The shoe bump is real, and the talent pool bump is also a major factor on the women's side.

While Lewis had a jump in Tokyo that was longer than Beamon's WR, it was wind-aided, so the record Powell broke was 23 years old. Edwards broke the TJ record twice at WC '95, a few minutes apart, although I'm sure there are other instances even briefer than that.
1980 Olympic pentathlon may be the shortest - Olga Kuragina was the WR holder at 4856 entering the meet. Kuragina finished the final event, the 800 meters, in 2:03.6 to score 4875 points. That remained the highest score ever for 1.2 seconds, as Olga Rukavishnikova ran 2:04.8 to score 4937 points. That lasted as the highest score ever for 0.4 seconds, as Nadiya Tkachenko ran 2:05.2 to finish off her gold medal winning 5083 total. That remains as the highest score ever, as the pentathlon was subsequently replaced by the heptathlon.

Fernando Mamede was the 10K record holder, and I recall he couldn't even finish a championship race. Walked off the track.

Have yet to witness anything even remotely approaching chaos. Just say'in.

Hey Hey hold on there he did finish one 28:17 I believe it was LA.
And Mamede admitted to his mental maladies in Championships races.

Yes it was me. Hassan's technique is horrible and she runs like a boy
