I believe Salazar used a lot of speed with his m guys as well. if you are able to pull off m/10k double, this makes sense

If Ben true can run 27:15 or whatever his time was, Rupp can run faster than that right?
Looks like Osako is entered as well, along with a lot of B level US guys.

You think nico young is in better shape than the American record holder and 2016 Olympic medalist😐

No. At least not in this race.

No. At least not in this race.
I think he just runs to get the Olympic Qualifier 27:28
He is a year younger than Ben True and a lot more talented, Not sure if he runs the 10000/Marathon Double in the Olympics, but I don't think he will show all his cards in this race (Meaning don't expect any 26:20's or even under 27)

Rupp is not going to run 27:10 or whatever just running by himself.
We know Rupp will win. Most likely with a final lap of 57 ....
27:38 is my call.........
You have an uncanny ability to be wrong at least as we can ascertain from your other posts. There is no chance that Galen will be running his final lap in 57. Galen is at a stage where even with the super spikes he is probably a 27:30 runner in a race with pacemakers and ideal conditions. Galen will run about 28 minutes, meaning between 27:50 and 28:10, assuming things go well.
27:27
I doubt it will be sub-28, but I can guarantee at least 10+ pages of haters blowing their wad here regardless of time.
Watch for Lawi to drop a 27:05 and destroy Rupp and the others.

You think there's a shred of a chance Rupp runs the Olympic 10K? He can close with those guys at this point?

Young may be in better shape to run a fast 10k than a guy who is training specifically for the marathon. FWIW I think he'll run about 27:55.

I don't think he's going for the Olympic Qualifier, and if he is, I doubt he's planning on racing in the trials. Since he already has his spot locked for the marathon, maybe as a race for fun he could do it if he got in, but I doubt it. The Olympic 10k is going to be absolutely stacked this year with people like Cheptegai, Kipruto, Kiplimo, Farah (if he's in shape) probably a few other guys that are going to make a big showing in the next month or two.
And with all that said, I highly doubt he could even pull off a sub-27 right now. Ben True ran like 27:15 or so, and he's training specifically for that distance (and maybe 5k too). Rupp is training for the marathon specifically. With Kipchoge looking off his game and Bekele maybe not even going to the Olympics, chances are decent that Rupp can medal if he's on his A game.

2/10.
Lawi's done nothing to indicate he'd break 28min. 13:45 last year, 13:25 and 28min 10,000m's in 2019. His 5000m PR is EIGHT years old.
how deep could he be in marathon training ? bet he's doing a mini peak here before the real training comes this next month.... and who knows maybe he goes for another 10k/ marathon double
You people are high on crack. No chance Runs if he thinks he can’t break 28.
Count me shocked if he does not win and come close to the Olympic standard.
Will Chris Derrick break 32?

fixed that for you
I think it's interesting that people think there's such a huge difference between 10k & marathon training. Rupp ran 2:09 in ATL and then 1:00:23 on a bike path last October. I don't think any marathoner should ever be too far off from a decent 10k.
He was a world class 10k runner and still has some good running years left. He should be able to go sub-28 unless it isn't a sub-28 race or the weather is really bad. I think the field looks strong enough that it'll go out that hot because people will be looking for the Trials standard which is 28-flat. Doesn't look like a field that will go after the Olympic standard unless Rupp + Osako (27:36) decide to work together to try to run something that fast. I'm guessing 27:45ish. He probably wins or gets outkicked by somebody completely random like what happened in 2016 in the 5k with Knight.
This is Americans greatest distance runner, you telling me he can’t break 28 for 10k are you guys on crack. I’m sure this cat has run 20k in practice in 56 min.
My guess is he’s just chillin for most of the race at qualifying time pace until the last 800m. He will run around 27:18
