Has anyone else noticed that she seems to have gotten taller? I think she was around 5-3 in high school. I would say she is at least 5-5 now.

In addition to the obvious similarities in build, racing and running style to Jordan Hasay, Tuohy now has almost identical 1500 and 5000 PRs at the same age: 4:12 and 15:37. It is almost eery. The main difference is that the other girls are much faster in 2021.
Tuohy and Hasay most definitely do not have similar builds. Tuohy looks more muscular and seems to be more of a power runner.
With the exception of her first year out of college when she dropped weight with NOP, Hasay has always been very muscular.
She did

You’re right - Hasay’s legs are muscular but not so much in her upper body. If I were to guess I would say that Tuohy has at least 15 pounds on Hasay and perhaps more than that. I’m not saying this to disparage Tuohy but it makes her a different type of runner than what Hasay was in college.

while some argue being more muscular is a disadvantage in distance running, i think its not and katelyn's built is more comparable to shelby houlihan than jordan hasay
katelyn does cross training since she was young and she has always been muscular ever since, not only her legs but her shoulders are also muscular, which i think played a great role in her injury recovery and continuous progression
Tuohy appears to be entered in both the 1500 and 5K k at Nationals. But they're only a couple hours apart. Do you think she'll really do both? Most of her teammates was scratched from the 1500. Including Hennis. I'm sure because she probably wants to try to win the 5K. I don't know only one entry ahead of Tuohy with a faster time in the 1500
So far she's the second fastest sea time in the 1500. What do you think her strategy race wise will be?

she'll do both in the nationals if she qualifies for both because there's no reason for her not to,
i think a win at regionals for the 1500m is possible but in the nationals, i think she'll be going for top 8 place for both distances
we know her strategy, the real question is, "what is her coach's strategy? "
we know she does not have a finishing kick thats why she goes up front and pushes hard,
and if she tucks in, coming out when you're tucked in a group is hard and takes much effort too, and you have to consider getting boxed out too(stressful), katelyn's not used to that, and in the regionals and nationals, it will be tight, so i dont think they would risk being in an unfamiliar position, if she's fit enough to be at front or be in the top 5 then we all know katelyn's going for it
also, this year wont be tactical, it will all be fast races! many are aiming for otq times
With so many scratches among the top 1500 women's times Tuohy is now 3rd fastest among the remaining in the east (behind Skyring and Berman), but still 10th only in the 5000. I think it will be difficult for her to make it to Nationals in the 5000 on little rest compared to most in the 5000. But maybe she can pull it off.
they dont give medals in prelims so she doesnt need to win, she just has to qualify, she'll qualify in the 1500m, thats given
5000m will indeed be hard, going to be a close one for sure.. katelyn might be ranked 10th in east region but she now runs faster than ranked 8th shaw and 9th drop basing on her 1500m time and seeing her fitness on that bronze 5000m win while running 4:13 1500m hours before
Also, hannah steelman is going to be having a tougher double
You should rethink these comments........regionals is not a good situation at all for Tuohy. It is going to be 95% and very humid. This weather for college kids is sit and kick weather. The pace will not be fast unless Tuohy pushes it, which if she does the heat and humidity will get her at the end and she will get smoked even worst in the 1500m than she did at ACC’s the last 200m. Unfortunately this is a no win situation for her. Tuohy does not have a kick at all right now, but I think she will develop one in the future. Unless the weather changes she is in major trouble next week. Even so she still had a solid first season in college. Not great since she is Tuohy and she set the bar high by her own doing in high school. A top 10 High schooler great season...... Katelynne Tuohy it was just a solid season. But the future looks hopeful. The best thing that can happen for Tuohy is a healthy Starliper next year. They will be good for each other. Starliper is getting healthy and has started her CC training with a long slow progression which is good since Nationals is 6 months away. They are not going to rush her back this time from injury.
Tuohy loves the heat and humidity. She said her mile record in incredible heat and humidity. Perfect Situation.
7empest, it's so easy to see how you dont like katelyn tuohy
1 you're always negative minded about her
2 you know her name but dont spell it right
3 you always bring updates on other runners no ones even asking about on her thread
4 trying ways to write off her successful freshman season (its not even over yet)
5 always telling others how she will be smoked
youre the type of running fan that is excited to see tuohy fail.

I would point out a lot of the qualifiers are from northern schools. I am not saying she is even in top 5 at regionals in 1500, just she does make it to Portland.
But the weather makes it even tougher for the 5000

i have searched your name and saw that in every thread with tuohy in it, youre always in the comments hating, criticising and just straight up taking sht about her, and complimenting others, so okay..
I cant wait till thorvaldson, dudek, starliper and your other favorite runners run in college and do what you are doing to tuohy now
If you cant stop hating on my fave runner then i might aswell do the same to yours
The real feel on the track when katelyn ran 4:33 mile was 105 as told by mr tom cuffe
I wish the 1500 and 5000 were different days because it would be nice to see her run a more rested 5000, but it is what it is. ,
don't go there haze. keep it positive. enjoy the threads, thanks for the all the updates, etc.
it will be tough, but i believe in her
